Sister Wives Season 21 Episodes Ranked, Worst to Best — Before Tonight’s ‘Therapy by Fire’ Changes Everything

“I think it was kind of planted.” Seven words from Christine Brown on the November 1 episode of Sister Wives turned a season about moving on into a season about what really happened. Five episodes in, the Kody-free era has a clear pecking order. Here is every Season 21 episode so far, ranked worst to best, before tonight’s “Therapy by Fire” gets its say.

#5 — “Falling Into Old Feels”

Episode 3, which aired October 18, had all the ingredients of a great hour and served the plainest one. Meri celebrated her birthday with her “chosen family,” and the three women cooked old recipes together over video chat. The best moment — Christine refusing to recreate an old family photograph because it put her back in the “basement wife” spot — deserved an episode of its own. Meri’s demand for a real talk only came at the end.

#4 — “Been There Done That”

Episode 2, from October 11, did the heavy lifting the premiere skipped. Christine, Janelle and Meri sat down together for the first time in years to share old photographs, and the pictures dragged the old wounds into the open. Christine’s hurt was visible, and Meri left wanting a deeper conversation she still had not gotten. Meanwhile Janelle visited a relationship consultant, done waiting for closure from anyone else.

#3 — “Crazy Big News”

The October 4 premiere had the hardest job of the season: announcing, on camera, that Kody and Robyn were gone after 16 years. Janelle called the news “flabbergasted,” Christine called it “bizarre,” and Meri admitted she was “actually surprised.” The moment mattered — it closed the book on the 33-year timeline of the family’s collapse in a single scene. But the episode itself was mostly throat-clearing before next week’s payoff.

#2 — “The Pink Elephant in the Room”

Episode 4, which aired October 25, is where Season 21 found its nerve. Over tea, Meri admitted what fans had suspected for years: she stayed silent during Kody’s attacks on Christine because she was still married to him and did not feel she could challenge him openly. Christine explained why she needed distance to figure out who she was outside the plural marriage. Janelle went line dancing; Christine and David played a risqué board game. The talk left the biggest question unanswered — but the honesty is what makes it land.

#1 — “The Stench of a Failed Marriage”

Nothing else this season comes close to November 1. Christine said she believed Robyn “planted” the idea of Kody and Meri’s 2014 legal divorce back in Lehi, Utah — confirming the theory fans had whispered about for years. Janelle backed her up. Meri delivered the coldest line of the season: “I don’t know if they had a plan. If it wasn’t a plan, it worked very well in his favor.” Then the three women melted down their wedding rings, while Janelle faced her fear of bees with her daughter Maddie.

Tonight: Where Does “Therapy by Fire” Fit?

Janelle Brown and a nighttime campfire scene
Janelle Brown — and a campfire a lot like the one the ex-wives gather around tonight.

Episode 6 airs tonight, November 8, at 10 p.m. ET, and it could dethrone the top spot. Meri, Janelle and Christine gather around a fire to burn jewelry from their marriages. Meri heads to San Francisco for a tantra yoga speed-dating event. Christine and Janelle go camping and talk frankly about polygamy. Janelle, who learned Kody and Robyn were quitting by email, has not spoken to them since the property sale — which makes her candor on that camping trip the scene to watch.

If the fire ceremony delivers even half the emotion of last week’s ring-melting, tonight’s episode goes straight to number one. So, Sister Wives fans: does the ring-melting episode deserve the crown, or should Meri and Christine’s tea-time showdown in episode 4 take the top spot instead?
