“Basically, we met, we only hung out a couple times, but he ghosted.” That is Whitney Way Thore describing the man she is about to marry. Eight years after Jake Beaudoin vanished in 2018, he put an aquamarine ring on her finger. Season 14 premieres Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET. Who is he? Here is everything we actually know.
“We Only Hung Out a Couple Times — But He Ghosted”
Whitney and Jake first met years ago. In the summer of 2018, they went on a couple of dates — and then he disappeared. “Basically, we met, we only hung out a couple times, but he ghosted,” Whitney told E! News in an interview published November 4. The ghosting haunted the reunion: she admitted it took her a while to take the relationship seriously, because she kept thinking, “This is going to happen again.” She still teases him about it: “I bring it up constantly!” Small wonder she was cautious — she has “very little faith in men” since Chase Severino proposed in Paris in 2019, then got another woman pregnant.
Salesman by Day, Breauski by Night
According to reports, Jake Beaudoin is a 41-year-old single dad from Hickory, North Carolina, with a 12-year-old daughter. By day, he works in sales. By night, he is an electronic dance music producer who performs under the handle Breauski. What sold her was the father: she says one of the first things she noticed years ago was what a wonderful dad he is, and how much he loves being one. He told her something she says she rarely hears from men: “I want another child. I want a baby again.” They reconnected after her move back to Charlotte.
Three Months From Hard Launch to Fiancé

Whitney hard-launched the relationship on Instagram in late May 2026 with kissing photos, then posted from the Blue Ridge Parkway on August 15. Three days later, People exclusively announced the engagement: “Jake has officially graduated from boyfriend to fiancé.” The proposal caught her off guard — she had spent the trip convinced he was about to break up with her. Instead, he pulled out an aquamarine ring she calls “incredibly meaningful.” Fans are still divided over how fast it all moved: three months from public debut to engaged.
The Line He Drew on Camera
The Season 14 trailer gives Jake his hardest scene. “I still want a baby. That’s my main objective,” Whitney says. Then she asks: “And I can’t use another man’s sperm to get pregnant?” His answer is flat and instant: “Uh, I would prefer not.” Whitney told E! News she expected him to bolt. Instead: “He was way more into it than I was… he was so supportive and so excited. And he never wavered on that once and still hasn’t.” Whether she can use another man’s sperm to get pregnant is the one question he has answered with a no.
What Tuesday Night Has to Prove

Season 14 premieres Tuesday, November 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC, one hour after the 1000-Lb Sisters Season 9 finale. The trailer was filmed before the August proposal, so the engagement may unfold across the season in real time. “When you go from thinking you’re just in a casual relationship to all of a sudden we’re going to try to have a baby together, things move very quickly,” Whitney said. “I continue to be pleasantly surprised at every turn.”
