Pete Lahowin had never watched a single episode of Sister Wives before he sat down to dinner with Janelle Brown. The 62-year-old construction worker walked into a blind date with a woman who had spent 16 years on reality television — and had no idea who she was.
In a new PEOPLE interview, published November 8, Janelle describes a man from outside her old world. No fandom, no fame-chasing. He is old-fashioned: opens doors, worries when she drives too far, wants to know how everything works. A friend named Alice set up their random blind date — the night of the Vegas blind date that started it all.
The man himself, then. Pete is 62, works in construction, and was married before. He has a daughter near Janelle’s kids’ ages; the two women have already met. Janelle calls her “wonderful” — and says she is “just happy that her dad is happy.”
The Man Who Had Never Seen the Show

Pete’s unfamiliarity with Sister Wives might be his greatest asset. Janelle spent nearly three decades spiritually married to Kody Brown, with six children, watched by millions as it fell apart. Then came a man with no preconceived idea of who she was. “It was awesome,” Janelle said. “When I told my kids, they’re like, ‘That’s the best thing ever.'”
He did not even Google her before they met. Janelle says she might have known his name and nothing else — no photo, no warning that the woman across the table had a TV show — and an ex-husband with three other ex-wives.
The Double Date That Gave the Game Away
The blind date became a double date with Christine Brown and her husband, David Woolley — and Pete’s education began. Across the table, Pete asked: “Well, how do you guys know each other?” Everybody laughed. Christine answered, “We were married to the same man.” Janelle leaned in: “At the same time.”

Janelle went Instagram-official in August 2026: “I wasn’t looking. I certainly wasn’t expecting you.” Christine approved in the comments: “He’s such an awesome guy!! They are so cute together.”
Sundays Belong to Them

One ritual explains this relationship: Sunday. Free Sundays are theirs, a tradition born at a local winery one September afternoon in 2026. “The Sunday that started it all,” Janelle wrote on Instagram. “We had a glass of wine, sat in the shade and listened to the music.” Other Sundays: beach trips, or Pete’s family in Annapolis.
Small, stubbornly ordinary — and maybe exactly why it works. “When I am with him, my nervous system just chills,” Janelle said. “He’s like my rock. I feel so stable and protected.” Pete, she says, “doesn’t have a huge ego” and “loves me so much, and I feel cherished as well as loved.”
The Cross-Country Question
One problem Sundays can’t solve: distance. Janelle’s in North Carolina; Pete’s still in Las Vegas. They see each other every two to three weeks. The plan: get him East. “We’re working to get him to the East Coast,” Janelle said. “For sure he’ll be coming East, just timeframe is the question.” A new chapter of life after Kody.
Pete steps in front of the cameras himself in Sister Wives season 21. In the trailer, Janelle introduces him: “His name is Peter. He’s a family guy… There are no red flags.” Pete tells the cameras, “She’s a wonderful woman.” Fans are already keeping score in every Season 21 episode ranked so far.
So here is the question: Pete says he is coming East, but when — and can a Sunday tradition survive a cross-country gap until he does? Team Move East, or Team Take It Slow?
