Sister Wives Season 21: The 5 Biggest Letting-Go Moments, Ranked

Sister Wives Season 21: The 5 Biggest Letting-Go Moments, Ranked

Meri Brown (Reality Tea)

Meri Brown answered with one word. “No.”

Christine had just asked her, at the jeweler’s counter, whether she had any regrets about melting the jewelry Kody gave her. One word, and thirty-three years turned into a decision.

Five episodes into Season 21, Sister Wives has become a contest in letting go. Here are the season’s five biggest goodbye moments so far, ranked from the smallest act of courage to the one nobody will forget.

5. Janelle Faces the Bees

The smallest moment might also be the bravest. In Episode 5, Janelle — afraid of bees — tried beekeeping with her daughter Maddie anyway. No confrontation, no speech: just a woman doing something that scared her. Janelle spent nearly thirty years in a marriage she has since called “a burden.” The scene said it all: she is done shrinking herself to fit a family that no longer exists.

4. Christine Says No to the Family Photo

Sorting old family photographs should have been the easy scene. According to reports, when Meri and Janelle suggested recreating an old group portrait, Christine refused — the picture reminded her of feeling like the wife at the bottom of the hierarchy. To some, Christine was honest about a pecking order she lived inside for twenty-five years; to others, she was picking at a healed wound. Some versions of the past are not worth posing for again.

3. David Draws a Line: “It’s Either Me or Them”

The sharpest warning came from the new husband. In the Season 21 trailer, Christine and David Woolley sit in therapy, and David lays it out: “When you’re with me, you’re Christine Woolley, but it’s that other side, she becomes Christine Brown. I’m coming to the point where it’s either me or them.” Christine married David in October 2023, and the marriage is happy by every account. David is not jealous of a person — he is tired of a past that keeps pulling Christine back into rooms with Meri and Janelle.

2. The Email Janelle Deleted — “Oh, Wow. Okay”

After nearly thirty years of marriage and sixteen years on television, Janelle learned Kody and Robyn were leaving Sister Wives by email. “I actually got an email that they weren’t coming back, and I’m like, ‘Oh, wow. Okay,'” she told PEOPLE in an interview published November 2. Asked if she deleted it, she did not hesitate: “I might have. I didn’t care.” She also estimated Kody is “alienated from 90 to 95 percent” of his children — her assessment, not a verified count. It ranks second because it was not dramatic at all. Indifference is the real end of a marriage, and Janelle delivered it in six words. Meanwhile, she introduced boyfriend Pete on Instagram in August 2026.

1. The Rings: From “Sister Witches” to Sunday’s Fire

Nothing else comes close. In Episode 5, the three women sat with jeweler Brett to decide what to do with Kody’s jewelry. Meri brought two rings: her small wedding ring, and the much larger “divorce ring” Kody gave her when the marriage ended — a big yellow-orange stone Brett valued at only around $200 to $300. Janelle was blunter: “It’s cheap.” Then the twist: Christine revealed David’s idea — turn Kody’s old insult, “sister witches,” into matching pendants with diamond eyes. An insult became jewelry; a wound became a joke the three share. One more sting: in Season 18, Meri revealed Kody had secretly melted his original wedding ring from her while courting Robyn, keeping the diamonds without her knowledge. This time, the melting happens on her terms. On Sunday, November 8, at 10 p.m. ET, “Therapy by Fire” goes further: the three gather to burn jewelry from their marriages.

Meri’s “No” is the whole season in a single syllable. The rings were never worth much money. They were worth thirty years — and now they are hers to burn. So before the fire is lit: Meri’s “No” at the jeweler, or Janelle’s deleted email — which goodbye felt more final? And when the rings hit the flames, which wife walks away the freest?
