Meri’s ‘Divorce Ring’ Is Bigger Than Her Wedding Ring — And Worth Just $200

Thirty-one years of marriage produced two rings for Meri Brown — and the bigger one arrived at the very end. In a sneak peek ahead of Sunday night’s episode of Sister Wives, Meri sits down with a jewelry appraiser, her former sister wives Christine and Janelle beside her, and holds up the parting gift almost nobody outside the family knew existed: a “divorce ring” from Kody Brown.

The joke writes itself, and Meri knows it. Holding the two rings side by side, she teases: “Wedding ring? Divorce ring? Which one is he most excited about?” The appraiser, Brett, quips that Kody looked “happier about the divorce than the marriage.” Meri agrees — the contrast sends a message all on its own.

Two Rings, One Brutal Comparison

The wedding ring is modest almost to the point of symbolism: a small stone set on a simple gold double band, the ring Meri wore for more than three decades as Kody’s first wife. The divorce ring is something else entirely — a much larger piece built around a big yellow-orange stone that dwarfs the ring she married him in.

Christine, who left Kody in 2021, chimes in with a dry “Yeah, sweet huh?” — and points out a detail that stings: of the three women who walked away, only Meri received a ring when her split was finalized in January 2023. Janelle and Christine got no such parting gift.

The $200 Verdict That Stole the Scene

If the divorce ring was meant to be a grand gesture, its materials did not get the memo. Brett identifies the piece as silver and says the eye-catching yellow-orange stone might be a Mexican fire opal — then gently warns that the ring is “still not super duper valuable.” His estimate lands at roughly $200 to $300.

Janelle had been hoping for exactly that outcome. “If it’s fake, oh, it’s going to be so epic,” she laughs, while Christine admits she would “laugh my head off.” When Brett tries to soften the number, Meri waves him off — it is fine to “totally downplay it,” she says, since “it was a divorce ring” after all.

Did Robyn Pick It Out?

Then Christine asks the question fans have been asking ever since the clip dropped: did Kody actually choose this ring himself? She floats the theory that Robyn Brown — Kody’s fourth wife and now his only wife — may have picked it out instead. Meri admits she has wondered the same thing.

“I’ve never for one second thought that was something that Kody thought, ‘Oh, I think I should go get her a really nice ring and give it to her,'” Meri says. It is her doubt, not a proven fact — nobody on camera confirms who bought the ring — but fans have run with it, with some speculating online that the piece came from a gift stash rather than a jewelry counter.

Why This Ring Hits Harder Than a Preview Should

Meri was Kody’s first and only legal wife. She legally divorced him in 2014 so he could marry Robyn and adopt Robyn’s children, then stayed in the spiritual marriage for nearly another decade.

Seen that way, the divorce ring is not really about jewelry at all. It is a receipt for 31 years — small where the marriage was, big where the ending was, and worth a few hundred dollars when the appraiser says the quiet part out loud. So now it is your turn: was it a genuine goodbye gift, a parting insult, or — as Christine suspects — someone else’s pick entirely? Team Gift, Team Insult, or Team Robyn Picked It?
