The cameras spent 16 years on Kody Brown and his four wives. But the real plot twist of Sister Wives is hiding in plain sight: the Brown kids grew up, moved out, got married, had babies — and quietly built the exact opposite of the family they were raised in.
As Season 21 rolls on without Kody and Robyn, the show’s future may belong to the next generation anyway. Mykelti Brown Padron has said the new season will not deliver the big family reunion fans keep begging for — but it will show smaller groups of siblings finding their own way forward. Here is where they stand now.
1. Maddie: The Farmer Building the Family’s New Home Base
If anyone has become the gravitational center of the Brown family, it is Madison “Maddie” Brown Brush. Janelle’s eldest daughter married Caleb Brush in 2016, and the couple now have four children: Axel, Evie, Josephine and Emilia, born in March 2025. Emilia’s middle name, Estelle — Latin for “star” — honors Maddie’s late brother Garrison, who loved astronomy.
Maddie and Caleb bought property in North Carolina with Janelle and launched Taeda Farms, a flower farm where fans can pick their own blooms. It is the rare Brown family project that is actually growing — and it is why Janelle moved east. Mykelti says viewers will see “a lot” of Maddie this season, and she wants the farm storyline to get more screen time because it shows visible progress. Grandkids next door, a working farm, a mother nearby: Maddie did not just leave plural marriage behind, she replaced it with a headquarters.
2. Mykelti: The Bridge — and Her “Package Deal” Rule

Christine’s daughter Mykelti Brown Padron is the sibling fans trust most to tell the truth about this family — because she is the one still talking to everybody. She and husband Tony Padron, married since 2016, are raising three kids, Avalon and twins Archer and Ace, after moving from Utah to North Carolina in 2024.
Mykelti was long the rare holdout who kept a cordial line open to both Kody and Robyn and her siblings. But even she has drawn a line, telling the Pop Psych series that she is a package deal: “You’ve got to treat my whole family nice; you’ve got to treat my kids nice. You can’t just have me. You have to have all of us.” It is the most quoted sibling rule of the post-Kody era. Mykelti also revealed Season 21 is already fully filmed, that viewers should expect groups of three or four siblings at most, and that a separate show about the Brown children is the only format she thinks could work for the most private sibling, Leon.

Christine’s eldest, Aspyn Brown Thompson, married Mitch Thompson in 2018, manages a Kendra Scott store in Salt Lake City, bought her first home — and announced her first pregnancy in April 2025, during a local news segment about Mother’s Day gifts. The quietest, most normal milestone imaginable, and fans loved her for it.
Gwendlyn Brown Queiroz took a louder path: she married Beatriz Queiroz in July 2023, graduated from Northern Arizona University a semester early in December 2024, and has become one of the family’s most candid voices online. Mykelti says Gwendlyn is “very willing” to return to the show, though her full-time job makes filming harder. Then there is Leon Brown, Meri and Kody’s only child, who came out as transgender in June 2022, married partner Audrey Kriss that October, and now lives a deliberately private life in Denver. Three siblings, three exits from the spotlight — on their own terms.
4. The Twist Nobody Saw Coming
Step back and count it: Logan Brown, the eldest of all 18, married Michelle Petty in 2022 and the couple plan to stay childfree. Hunter Brown finished nursing school at Johns Hopkins and works in healthcare. Gabriel and Savanah are building quiet adult lives far from the cameras. And even Robyn’s older kids, Aurora and Breanna, have told their mother on camera they are not sure plural marriage is for them.
That is the twist: every single Brown child who has chosen marriage or parenthood has chosen one partner, one household. The grandchildren — Maddie’s four, Mykelti’s three, and Aspyn’s baby — are all being raised in monogamous homes. The family Kody built to prove plural marriage could work has produced a next generation that, unanimously and without a press release, chose something else.
So the fan debate has flipped. It is no longer just “Team Christine” versus “Team Janelle” versus “Team Meri.” It is: who is leading the Brown family now? Maddie, with the farm and the grandkids’ headquarters? Mykelti, the bridge holding the siblings together? Or Gwendlyn, the unfiltered voice fans want front and center? Drop your pick — and tell us which Brown kid deserves their own spin-off first.
