Liz Johnston and Brice Bolden never did take that honeymoon. When they married on November 8, 2025, they told PEOPLE the trip would wait until their first anniversary, so they could stay close to their daughter, Leighton. That anniversary is today. One year of marriage, two kids, and a love story that started with a prom date in 2019 and nearly ended in a breakup. Here it is, date by date.
2018–2019: Three Houses Apart and One Prom Date
Liz and Brice lived just three houses apart in the same Georgia neighborhood, and they crossed paths in 2018 before they started dating in 2019. That spring, Brice took Liz to prom, with TLC cameras along for the ride. Liz had just ended a relationship with an ex named James, and Brice was the new face in her world.
Season 12 to Season 14: The Ring That Never Came — and the Breakup
By Season 12, Brice was already thinking about marriage. He asked Liz’s sisters, Emma and Anna, to help him pick a ring, and he tried to work out her ring size without giving the game away. Fans waited for the proposal. It never came. In a Season 14 preview, Liz said the relationship had started to feel like two roommates sharing a house, not a romance. She called Brice a good person, but she did not want a comfortable, mediocre love. So they split. Liz was the first Johnston kid to move out and build an adult life of her own, and how the Johnston kids’ grown-up moments rank still puts her at the top.
2023: From a Surprise Announcement to Baby Leighton

Then came the twist nobody saw coming. After reconciling, Liz and Brice announced in September 2023 that they were expecting their first child, telling Trent and Amber on camera during Season 14. Leighton Drew Bolden arrived on November 3, 2023, weighing five pounds, 10 ounces. Like her father, Leighton is of average height. For Liz, who has achondroplasia, the delivery meant a C-section under general anesthesia, the same high-stakes birth she would face again with her second child. The first Johnston grandchild changed the whole family overnight.
May 25, 2025: “Ring a Ding Ding, It’s Finally Happening”
The proposal took six years. During Season 16, Brice asked Trent for permission to marry Liz, and Trent and Amber eventually gave their blessing. On May 25, 2025, Brice proposed at Pensacola Beach, Florida, the couple’s favorite spot. Liz announced it on Instagram the same day: “Ring a ding ding, it’s finally happening.” Liz beating her brothers to the altar also rewrote the family pecking order, and the Johnston wedding race Jonah and Alex are still running looks very different now that Liz has already crossed the finish line.
November 8, 2025: A Wedding in the Field — and a Goodbye to Nana
Exactly one year ago today, Liz and Brice married in the field at the Johnston family home in Forsyth, Georgia. Liz was 23, Brice was 25, and around 80 friends and relatives attended a romantic fall ceremony on the property where their relationship had grown. Leighton, the flower girl, had turned two just five days earlier. The joy came with grief: Liz’s grandmother, Nana, had died in October, only weeks before the ceremony, after hoping to attend.

November 17, 2026: The Timeline Comes to Your Screen
Season 18 premieres Tuesday, November 17 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC, and it follows the second pregnancy viewers already know ends with Coleman in Liz’s arms. Seven years, one breakup, two babies and a wedding later, Liz and Brice are the Johnstons’ proof that a relationship can break and come back stronger, or the warning that they rebuilt too fast around a baby. Which is it? And now that Liz says Coleman is their last, should the Boldens really stop at two, or is there one more chapter left in this timeline?
