Every season of I Love a Mama’s Boy asks the same question, and it is never really about the moms. The moms say what they want out loud. The real drama is the man between his mother and his partner, deciding — on camera — who he will disappoint. Most of them freeze. A few finally move. So here is the sons’ ranking, judged on one thing only: the single moment each man either stood up to his mother or failed to.
The Ones Who Never Stood Up: Tre and Shekeb Let Mom Win

Tre watched his relationship with Abbey crumble, and according to reports, his mother Lorenda celebrated the breakup on camera. Abbey left — with their child — while Tre stayed in his mother’s corner.
Shekeb’s case is quieter and sadder. For three seasons, Laila spoon-fed her grown son breakfast, delivered the infamous “Momma gonna die” ultimatum, called Emily a “pig,” and brought Yussra — the woman she had been pushing on Shekeb — to a dinner party. Emily asked for accountability and never got it. According to reports, the couple are no longer together.
The Man in the Middle: Josh Never Left the House — or the Argument
Josh McAloon sits one rung above the bottom, only because his failure is passive. He had never lived apart from his mother, Tina, even after 12 years married to Janelle. When the couple dreamed of Florida, Tina was, by Josh’s own admission, the holdout blocking the move. Janelle finally bought the Florida house anyway — one with notably no room for Tina — and told her husband to “take a breather and wake up.” Josh did not choose a side so much as he got dragged toward one.
The Late Bloomer: Matt Finally Owned His Mess

Matt McAdams spent years as the franchise’s biggest disappointment — then did something none of the men above him ever did: he said it out loud. His relationship with Brittany Taylor collapsed in a cheating scandal, and Matt later admitted he had been seeing other women while dating her, confessing he took “a coward’s way out.”
Matt sat down for The Sarah Fraser Show podcast alongside his mother Kelly and his girlfriend Devon, and addressed the Brittany breakup. He later posted the trio’s photo, writing “mom’s ready for the ride.”

There is only one true stand-up moment in four seasons of this show, and it belongs to Roberto Hernandez. When Nancy convinced him to demand a paternity test on his own daughter Kimi, Kristy walked out with the coldest line TLC has ever aired: “Who is she that I have to prove to her?” The result came back 99.99 percent. And Roberto did the one thing no other son on this list did when it mattered: he followed his wife out the door. According to reports, the couple later distanced themselves from Nancy’s negativity and are still together. But when the choice was his wife or his mother, on camera, he picked his wife. On this show, that is a revolution.
