Kody Brown gave Meri Brown a ring when their marriage ended. It was not the ring she wore for most of their marriage — it was bigger, bolder, and, according to reports, it came with a question Meri still cannot shake: did Kody even pick it out himself?

That question is what has fans talking: a divorce ring is already a strange gift, and one you suspect someone else chose is a whole different story.

The Appraisal Scene That Started It All

According to a new report from TV Season & Spoilers, Meri laid the two rings side by side for jewelry appraiser Brett. Her wedding ring, she explained, was a small gold double band with a tiny stone. The divorce ring was another thing entirely: a much larger yellow-orange stone dwarfing the ring she married in.

Meri discussed it with Christine Brown, who pointed out something striking: Meri seems to be the only wife who received a ring when her relationship with Kody ended. The jeweler's joke — that Kody seemed more excited about the divorce than the marriage — is the line fans keep repeating.

"Did Robyn Pick It?" — Meri's Suspicion, Not a Fact

To say this carefully: Meri suspects Robyn Brown picked the divorce ring out. That is her suspicion, as reported — not an established fact.

But suspicion is exactly why the story caught fire. If Kody chose the ring himself, it reads as a gesture, however clumsy. If someone else chose it, fans ask, what was the gesture actually worth? The doubt turns jewelry into a verdict on how much thought went into the ending.

Two Fan Camps: A Backhanded Goodbye vs. Clean Closure

The first camp reads the ring as a slap, or at least a backhanded goodbye. In this view, a bigger stone at the end than at the beginning is almost insulting: the marriage got the small ring, the exit got the showpiece. Add the suspicion about who chose it, and the gesture looks outsourced — a farewell at arm's length.

The second camp reads it as closure, and even as a quiet win for Meri. She stayed the longest, she left last, and she walked away with something larger than what she started with — literally. For these fans, the ring is no longer about Kody. It is a full stop Meri keeps on her own terms.

Why the Size of the Stone Hit Such a Nerve

Context is why this stings. Christine left in November 2021. Janelle separated in December 2022. Meri and Kody announced their separation in January 2023, after more than three decades together — Meri holding on long after the romance had gone.

So fans comparing the two rings are not really comparing jewelry. They are comparing the beginning — a young first wife, a small gold band — with the end: a woman who outlasted everyone else and got a bigger rock for leaving than for staying.

Life After the Ring

Whatever the ring meant, Meri's life since has been defined by distance from it. She bought Lizzie's Heritage Inn, the Utah home, on her own in 2017, and has made her life in Parowan, Utah, far from Flagstaff. She is not asking to go back. She is examining what she was given on the way out — and deciding what to make of it.

So what do you think — was the bigger stone a slap, a peace offering, or simply closure? And does it matter who picked it out? Tell us in the comments, and tell us why.
