Every son on I Love a Mama’s Boy promises his partner comes first. But this show runs on the moments when a son finally has to prove it — standing between the two most important women in his life, with Mom watching. Some walked out, some folded, one took years to get it right. Season 5 is still unconfirmed, according to reports.

Roberto Walks Out on Nancy — and Follows His Wife Out the Door

No son ever picked a side more cleanly than Roberto Hernandez. His mother Nancy convinced him to demand a paternity test on his own daughter Kimi. The result came back 99.99 percent his — and changed nothing. Nancy still would not let it go, and Kristy finally snapped: “Who is she that I have to prove to her?” Then she walked out.

The legend-making moment: he followed his wife out the door instead of staying to defend his mother. The price was a deep rift with Nancy. The payoff, according to reports, is that Roberto and Kristy distanced themselves from Nancy and are still together.

Shekeb’s Move-Out Plan Blows Up in His Face

Shekeb Sekander tried to pick a side — and it blew up so badly that he ended up picking neither. After three seasons of spoon-fed breakfasts, “Momma gonna die” shutdowns, and Laila bringing Yussra, her preferred match, to dinner as sabotage, Shekeb finally sat both women down to share his plan to move out with Emily.

Laila refused to even hear it and kicked Emily out. Emily, pushed past her limit, threw coffee in Shekeb’s face. By the Season 3 finale, Shekeb had moved back in with his mom, and according to reports, he and Emily have since split for good. Shekeb is the cautionary tale: he tried to choose his partner, flinched, and lost her anyway.

Matt Finally Chooses Devon — and Kelly Learns to Cheer

Matt McAdams took the longest road to a choice: four years with Kim inside his mother Kelly’s world, including a stretch living in Kelly’s house after their apartment burned down, then the messiest breakup of the series with Brittany Taylor — a split Matt later owned on The Sarah Fraser Show podcast, admitting he “took a coward’s way out.”

Now Matt has finally, publicly, picked his partner: his girlfriend Devon, with Kelly smiling alongside them — Matt even posted that “mom’s ready for the ride,” and the trio sat together for a podcast interview. The cost was years of wreckage; the payoff is the one thing no other son here has: freedom with his mother’s blessing.

The Sons Still Stuck in the Middle: Josh and Shahid

Not every son gets a walkout moment. Josh McAloon spent 12 years of marriage never living apart from his mother Tina, until his wife Janelle bought a Florida house with no room for Tina. Tina’s answer said everything: “I’m his mother! I came first.” Josh never made Roberto’s clean choice.

Then there is Shahid, Season 4’s unfinished story. His mother Dia judged his girlfriend Nylah on a first impression, questioning her intentions toward Shahid’s finances. Shahid has not picked a side yet — and his choice will define whether he becomes the next Roberto or the next Shekeb.

So, the question splitting this fandom: which son made the right call — Roberto, who walked out on his mother, or Shekeb, who stayed and lost everything? Be honest: if the man in your life had to pick, who should win — Mom, or you? Team Walk Out or Team Mom First — pick your side below.
