Every season of My Big Fat Fabulous Life has a loud storyline and a quiet one. Ahead of the Season 14 premiere on Tuesday, November 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC, fans are making the case that the quiet one this time has a name: Hunter Thore, Whitney Way Thore’s younger brother — in the background of almost every big moment of her life, almost never at its center.
This is not a spoiler — TLC has not announced Hunter as a Season 14 star. It is a fan argument: the man who has known Whitney longest, challenged her hardest, and asked for the least camera time might be the voice the new season needs most.
The Brother Who Was There for All of It

Hunter grew up with Whitney in Greensboro, North Carolina, and he was there for the chapters fans still talk about: the early fame, when a viral dance video made his sister a television star in January 2015; the loss of their mother, Barbara “Babs” Thore, who died at home in Greensboro on December 7, 2022; and the 2022 DNA-test revelation that their father Glenn had a daughter, Angie, placed for adoption.
Unlike almost everyone else around Whitney, Hunter has never chased the camera. He is an actor and musician based in New York, according to reports, and treats the show as his sister’s job, not his own. That is why his appearances land: when Hunter shows up, something matters. He was even in the August 2026 Blue Ridge Parkway carousel that hard-launched Whitney and Jake Beaudoin — then he stepped back out of frame.
The Honest Voice in the Room

Ask longtime fans what they trust Hunter for, and the answer is the same: he says the thing everyone else dances around. Years ago, when Whitney’s boyfriend at the time — the man fans called the Frenchman — flaked on a family vacation, Hunter did not smooth it over. He told his sister plainly that a man who wanted to be there would have been there, and the two fought on camera before making up.
That honesty showed up again when trailers suggested Hunter had reservations about Whitney’s plan to pursue motherhood through artificial insemination — a brother’s worry, not cruelty. Now the Season 14 trailer shows Whitney introducing Jake to her family and friends, who grill him about his intentions and whether he wants kids. Hunter, with the longest memory of every man before Jake, is the verdict fans most want to hear.

Season 14 is, by TLC’s tagline, a “new city, new lover, new era” season: Whitney back in Charlotte, engaged to a man she first met years ago and reconnected with after her return, according to TLC. Everything is new — which is when a show needs an anchor to the old. Hunter remembers the Greensboro kitchen, the Babs years, and the heartbreaks that did not end happily. Faced with a whirlwind engagement — public in late May 2026, engaged by August 18, when Whitney told People Jake had “officially graduated from boyfriend to fiancé” — he can ask calmly, “Are you sure, and are you happy?”
The Fair Case for Keeping Him in the Background
None of this means Hunter owes the show more of himself. He built a life outside reality television, in New York, with his own career and relationship, and he did not sign up as a full-time cast member. Some fans argue that dragging the show’s most private person into the spotlight would ruin what makes him work: he only speaks when it counts.
So here is the premiere-night question: should Season 14 give Hunter Thore the screen time fans say he has earned, or is his power exactly in how little he uses it? Team More Hunter says the new era needs its oldest voice. Team Let Him Be says leave its secret weapon alone. Pick a side.
