Forget Kody: The Fandom’s New War Is Meri Fans vs Christine Fans

It was supposed to be a simple takedown. In a fan group this week, one member posted the verdict plenty of viewers thought was safe: “Meri is unlikable. She still thinks she’s above the other ones.” Forty-nine comments later, the post had become something else entirely — a defense rally for Meri Brown, and a pile-on aimed at Christine Brown Woolley instead.

Comment after comment flipped the charge around. Fans argued that if anyone acts like she is above the others, it is Christine. Some called her, in their words, “the problem.” Others questioned whether the happy, healed Christine of recent seasons is entirely genuine. And Meri — the wife viewers spent years begging to leave — was praised as the only one taking accountability, a woman who has finally “found her voice.” Welcome to the Sister Wives fandom’s new war. Kody is not even in it.

Why Meri Is Winning Fans Right Now

Timing is everything. Season 21 is the first season in the show’s history without Kody and Robyn, who, as TLC’s trailer confirmed, are not returning after 16 years of filming. With the man gone, viewers are re-judging everyone who is left — and Meri’s arc looks very different in this light.

She was the last to go. Christine announced her split in November 2021; Meri did not confirm hers until January 2023, after legally divorcing Kody back in 2014 so he could marry Robyn. For years, that loyalty read as weakness. Now fans are reading it as endurance — and her willingness this season to name her own mistakes is landing as something Christine’s defenders used to claim for their side: honesty.

Why Christine Is Suddenly Taking the Heat

Christine’s story has not changed — she left first, rebuilt her life in Utah, and married David Woolley in October 2023. What has changed is how a loud slice of the fandom talks about her. Fans who once cheered her escape now say her certainty can read as superiority — the exact charge aimed at Meri in that group post.

Her supporters fire straight back: Christine spent decades people-pleasing inside the plural family, said on screen that she felt she “didn’t matter,” and is allowed to set hard boundaries now — even loud ones.

The October 25 Conversation Lit the Fuse

The October 25 episode gave both camps their ammunition. In their first one-on-one in years, Meri opened with “Let’s address the pink elephant in the room,” admitted she regretted not defending Christine during the split, and confessed she had stayed in her marriage partly out of stubbornness — she wanted Kody to say it was over himself. Christine, for her part, defended the distance she had put between them, explaining that she “had to create a firm, strong boundary until I could find myself.”

It was the most honest conversation the two have ever had on camera. And instead of settling anything, it handed every fan a side to pick: the woman who stayed too long and finally owned it, or the woman who left first and refuses to soften now.

No Kody, No Common Enemy

Here is the uncomfortable truth underneath the fight: for 16 years, Kody was the fandom’s common enemy, and hating his decisions united everybody. Season 21 removed him from the frame — and the arguments did not stop. They just found new targets. Meri versus Christine is really a fight about whose way of surviving that family was right: endure and reflect, or escape and never look back.

So, settle it. Are you Team Meri — the last one standing, finally taking accountability? Or Team Christine — the first one out, still holding her boundaries no matter how it looks? Tell us where you land, because this is one war Kody cannot take the blame for.
