She Studied Acting in New York Before Reality TV — Is Darcey’s Sitcom Her Real Second Chance?

Darcey and Stacey Silva cannot go a week without giving fans something to argue about. This week alone, according to TVShowsFinder, the twins posted a beach clip and a promo clip praising their doctor — and Reddit erupted.

But strip away the filters, feuds and fiancés, and there is a Darcey Silva most fans have forgotten: the one who moved to New York in 1998 to become an actress. Long before Jesse, Tom or Georgi, she wanted a script — not a storyline.

New York, 1998: The Acting Dream Came First

Darcey Silva was born in Middletown, Connecticut, and her path to fame did not start with a dating show. After studying at the University of Houston and Marshall University, she moved to New York in 1998 to train at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute until 2001.

That is nearly two decades before she ever appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Darcey did not stumble into performing — she went to New York specifically to learn it, years before reality TV ever called.

White T and Soul Ties: The Producer Credits Nobody Mentions

The twins did not just wait around for a television break. With their father, Mike Silva, they served as co-executive producers on the 2013 comedy White T, and provided background vocals for one song on the film. Their company, Eleventh Entertainment, later produced Soul Ties in 2015.

These were not starring roles, and nobody calls them box-office hits. But they are real producer credits, earned years before TLC fame — the sisters were building an entertainment company while the world still had no idea who they were.

Reality TV Was the Detour, Not the Dream

Then came the detour that swallowed the dream whole. Darcey broke out on Before the 90 Days in 2017, appeared on spinoffs including Pillow Talk, and in June 2020 Entertainment Weekly announced the twins’ own show. Darcey & Stacey ran four seasons, from 2020 to 2023, and Darcey was nominated for Reality Star of 2020 at the People’s Choice Awards.

Reality TV made the twins famous — and it also typecast them. To millions of viewers, Darcey is not a trained actress or a producer, just the woman who fights about boyfriends on camera. The actress got buried under the meme.

So Why Are Fans Laughing at the Sitcom?

That is what makes the twins’ October 2026 announcement so ironic. They revealed a scripted sitcom titled We Gotta Show Daddy!, starring themselves alongside a third “sister” named Cece. According to reports, the flier says “coming soon” — but no network, platform or premiere date has been confirmed.

Some fans questioned whether the poster looked AI-generated, and reactions on Threads were mixed, with plenty of outright rejection. The skepticism is fair — an announcement is not a premiere. But from Darcey’s side, the thing fans are laughing at may be the closest she has come to her original dream in 25 years.

So here is the question that splits the fandom. Team “Give Darcey the Script” says this has been nearly three decades in the making — a trained actress finally acting, with her sister beside her. Team “Stay in Reality” says scripted TV will expose what reality editing has always hidden, and the twins should stick to what made them famous.

Which side are you on? Is the sitcom Darcey’s real second chance — or proof that some dreams are better left in 1998? Drop your verdict in the comments. Silva fans never agree, and that is exactly why this story still works.
