“10x more.” That is the number Sarper Güven put on the difference between the two countries fighting over him. At the Last Resort season 3 Tell All, his plan sounded settled: two years, then back to Turkey for good. Now the math has changed — and so has the man.
In a new Instagram Story, Sarper said TLC Turkey has aired every Turkish cast member except him in four seasons — and that Turkish audiences are the least supportive of his stand-up career. Then came the two lines that split the fandom: “For my stand up shows the least supporting people are Turks, my biggest haters are Turks.” And: “Probably I shouldn’t go back … US people love and support me 10x more.”
Four Seasons, Zero Airings: The Snub That Started It
Start with the grievance, because Sarper did. Four seasons — The Other Way, the flagship show, The Last Resort — and, by his account, not one airing on TLC Turkey. It is the home crowd telling him he does not count.
Team America: “He Finally Found His Audience”

On one side, American fans treat the Story like a homecoming announcement. Their case writes itself: the US gave Sarper a stage, a tour, and a crowd that laughs at the jokes Turkey never bought. Tour listings show dozens of American dates into next spring — so why go back to be ignored?
Under the bragging, Team America hears relief. Sarper spent years as the foreign husband in someone else’s country, famous for a marriage falling apart on camera. In their reading, America is the first place that wanted Sarper for Sarper — the comedian, not the husband.
Team Turkey: “He Chose the Paycheck, Not the People”
Team Turkey reads the same Story and hears a man burning the bridge after crossing it. Their argument: Sarper built his act on being Turkish — the accent, the jealousy jokes, the stories about home — then blamed the very audience he mined for not applauding loudly enough.

For Team Turkey, that night is the context the “10x more” line needs — maybe America loves him more because America asks less of him.
The Woman Caught Between the Two Countries

Lost in the shouting is the woman whose marriage paid for the ticket. Shekinah Garner filed for divorce in September — papers delivered to Sarper’s lawyer, not served on him directly, according to reports. She sent a cease-and-desist after Sarper shared intimate details about her body and their sex life in a Canada show. And, in her own words, she still loves him — even as she regrets bringing him to the US.
Shekinah is now rebuilding in Miami with her daughter, and the divorce has its own ledger: the $6,189 a month she is asking for. Neither fan army wants to dwell on her side — if Sarper stays in America, he stays in the same country as the ex-wife who says she bankrolled the dream.
The Stage Gets the Final Vote
Strip away the flags and it is simpler than either side admits. Sarper is a working comedian, and comedians go where the rooms are full. Turkey did not air him; America books him through next spring. The “10x more” line may be wounded pride, or a business plan in disguise — probably both.
So here is the split: is Sarper staying because Americans love him 10x more, or because America is the only stage still paying him to be Sarper? Team America says he found home; Team Turkey says home found him first, and he walked away. Which side are you on — and if the crowds went quiet tomorrow, would he still stay?
