Life After Kody, Ranked: Who’s Winning Sister Wives Season 21 — and Who Lost the Most

Five adults walked into Season 21. Three came out with new lives, one with a new husband, and two didn’t show up at all.

Season 21 premiered October 4, 2026 — the first without Kody and Robyn Brown after 16 years. Tonight, the three ex-wives burn Kody’s jewelry around a fire in “Therapy by Fire.” So who actually won the breakup? Ranked from worst to best.

No. 5 — Robyn Brown: The Quietest Exit in Reality TV

Robyn went from the wife at the center of every family fight to a name nobody says on camera anymore. She is still Kody’s only legal wife — and she lost the show. As of the season’s launch, neither she nor Kody had publicly addressed their exit, according to People. Sixteen years on television, and the ending was an announcement in a trailer. The worst trade of the five.

No. 4 — Kody Brown: The Man Who Built the Show, Then Lost It

Kody built a 16-year television empire on four wives and 18 children. He has one wife left, and the show carries on without him. At the end of Season 20, he said he planned a “pilgrimage” to apologize to Janelle, Christine and Meri — and the Season 21 premiere showed those apologies. Janelle estimated that Kody is “alienated from 90 to 95 percent” of his children — her assessment, not a verified count. The story of how four wives became one is now told entirely without him.

No. 3 — Meri Brown: The Slowest Start, the Steadiest Nerve

Meri was 19 when she married Kody in 1990, and the last of the three to leave, in January 2023. She signed the legal divorce in 2014 so Kody could marry Robyn, then stayed nine more years. Now she is dating again — on her own terms, and slowly. “I just think that moving slow can be wise,” she said. Men propose weekly in her DMs: “I get proposed to, I swear, on a weekly basis.” She ranks third because she is still at the starting line. But she spent 33 years in this family and is finally choosing the pace herself — and tonight she tries tantra yoga speed dating in San Francisco.

No. 2 — Janelle Brown: The Email, the Farm, and Pete

Janelle split from Kody in December 2022 after nearly 30 years, and she has since called staying in the marriage “a burden.” Her new life: a farm in North Carolina, and a boyfriend introduced on Instagram in August 2026 after a Las Vegas blind date. But the moment that defines her season is not romantic — it is the way she found out Kody and Robyn were quitting by email. “I actually got an email that they weren’t coming back, and I’m like, ‘Oh, wow. Okay,'” she told PEOPLE. Asked if she deleted it: “I might have. I didn’t care.” She ranks second because her fresh start looks calm and chosen — and nobody in this family has ever sounded more free.

No. 1 — Christine Brown Woolley: The One Who Got Out First — and Best

Christine left in November 2021 after 25 years, married David Woolley in October 2023, and has never once looked back. On the November 1 episode, she told Meri: “I loved my leaving process.” In Season 21, she and David sit in couples therapy, and David draws the line plainly: “When you’re with me, you’re Christine Woolley.” Hers is the only fresh start that is finished — married, settled, done explaining herself. That is why the wife who spent the longest being overlooked now has the happiest ending of them all.

Christine says she loved her leaving process, Janelle says she didn’t care, and Meri is still taking it slow — so whose fresh start would you actually want? Christine’s finished happy ending with David, Janelle’s quiet farm life with Pete, or Meri’s slow dating comeback? And be honest: is the show better now that Kody and Robyn are gone?
