Five words. That is all it took for Tammy Slaton to split the 1000-LB Sisters fandom clean in half: “Amy gets everything and Tammy gets nothing.” She said it in a Season 9 confessional while her little sister was getting ready to sing in Nashville — and weeks later, fans are still fighting over whether it was the truest thing Tammy has ever said, or the pettiest.
The scoreboard makes the argument either way. Tammy has lost more than 500 pounds from a peak of 725 and is counting down to a December 12 wedding to Andrea Dalton. Amy has lost around 200 pounds, married Brian Lovvorn on Halloween night in 2025, is raising two little boys, and just took a Nashville stage for the first time. Both sisters rebuilt their lives from the same starting line. Only one feels like she got the reward.
Team Tammy: 500 Pounds Down and Still in the Shadows
Team Tammy starts with the number nobody can argue with: more than 500 pounds gone. Tammy went from a wheelchair and a trach tube to planning a Frozen-themed wedding, and she did it with the cameras rolling. That should be her victory lap.
Instead, the season keeps handing her the hard scenes. In Episode 8, Tammy uninvited her older siblings from the Nashville trip, and it blew up: the siblings were left, in TLC’s words, “reeling,” then drew “a line in the sand.” Amy went to Nashville anyway and took the spotlight. Then Episode 10 ended with Andrea suffering a medical emergency, and the finale synopsis says Tammy will stand by Andrea as she faces “a scary diagnosis.” Andrea’s seizures have reportedly been happening more often.

Team Amy: The Sister Who Never Stopped Showing Up
Team Amy has a shorter answer: look at who actually shows up. Amy spent nine seasons as the sister who carried Tammy, and she is still doing the practical work — maid of honor on the spot, wedding decorations, venue-hunting with Tammy.
The Nashville moment was not handed to her, either. She wrote “Pounds Hollow” during a fight with Tammy, survived a meeting where Nashville veteran Clay Myers questioned the whole idea, and still walked onto a stage on October 27 for her first performance. She drew her own line that night — her moment, no Tammy on the microphone — and fans heard it as a boundary, not a betrayal. Under TV Shows Ace coverage, fans wrote that “Tammy is so jealous of Amy always” and that Amy “LIVES” while Tammy acts afraid of life.

The Third Side Nobody Talks About
Here is the part both teams skip: this fight is not only about two sisters. Amanda called out the family’s broken communication in Episode 4 and pushed Amy to quit smoking now instead of Monday. Misty, the quietest success of the five at a reported 240 pounds down to 166 and off her diabetes medication, stood on the line with her. Chris confronted Amy in Episode 9 about what her silence cost the family — then worried that Andrea’s health scare could put Tammy through another devastating loss like the death of her ex-husband Caleb Willingham in 2023. The uncomfortable truth: the family’s real backbone may be the three siblings holding a line nobody has crossed back over.
Tuesday’s Finale Puts the Question to the Test
Tuesday, November 10, at 9 p.m. ET on TLC, the finale “Down in Pounds Hollow” forces the question into one night. Amy gets her skin-removal update and releases “Pounds Hollow” at a video shoot her siblings may or may not attend. At the same time, Tammy stands by Andrea through a scary diagnosis, with a December 12 wedding hanging on the outcome.
So here is the question Tuesday cannot dodge. If the finale forces this family into one room — Tammy’s hospital vigil beside Andrea, or Amy’s video shoot for the song she wrote about her sister — which sister deserves the family in her corner that night: Tammy, who lost more than 500 pounds and still feels like she gets nothing, or Amy, who finally got her moment and refuses to give it back?
