Amy Slaton’s ‘Don’t Come Crying to Me’ Line Just Blew Up Her Big Finale Night

“When I get rich and famous, don’t come crying to me! Do not darken my doorstep.” Amy Slaton aimed that line at the family who doubted her music — and days before the Season 9 finale, fans are still arguing about whether it was confidence or a step too far.

On Tuesday, November 10, at 9 p.m. ET on TLC, the finale, “Down in Pounds Hollow,” asks Amy for two huge things on the same night: an update on the skin removal surgery she has chased all season, and the release of “Pounds Hollow” — at a video shoot her siblings may or may not show up for.

The Line That Split the Comments in Half

Amy said the line after her family doubted her AI music, according to reports — and fans heard it two ways. Supporters read it as a woman who has lost around 200 pounds and stopped asking permission. “Amy the next Taylor swift,” one fan wrote under her Instagram debut of the song. Critics went the other way: “Amy take some voice lessons then try again!” one wrote, while another asked how she would ever perform live.

Pounds Hollow: A Song Written in the Middle of a Fight

“Pounds Hollow” is not a random first single. Amy wrote it during a difficult argument with her sister Tammy and named it for a childhood getaway spot in the Shawnee National Forest. So Tuesday’s video shoot is not just a video shoot — it is the song about her sister, performed while her sister is in crisis.

The video has already produced one of the strangest scenes of the season. Amy showed her videographer an AI mock-up: an older-looking AI version of herself romantically embracing her younger self. “Not me hugging my creepy AI older self!” Amy joked, according to reports — but the director looked worried about recreating it. Amy will not force her siblings to take part — but on Tuesday, the synopsis says she hopes they show up.

Twenty Pounds and a Quit Date Stand Between Amy and Surgery

Tuesday brings the answer Amy has waited all season for. Dr. Katie gave her initial approval for skin removal surgery in nearby Evansville — but the approval came with a checklist, not a date. Amy must lose 20 more pounds and quit smoking before the clearance becomes official. Her big sister Amanda stepped in: Amy planned to quit starting the following Monday, and Amanda pushed back — not Monday, now.

Tuesday’s Finale Puts Two Sisters on Opposite Sides of the Same Night

Episode 10, “Sorry (Not) Sorry,” aired Tuesday, November 3, and ended with Tammy scrambling when her fiancée Andrea Dalton suffered a medical emergency. No diagnosis has been made public. But the finale synopsis raises the stakes: “Amy gets an update on her skin removal surgery, and Tammy stands by Andrea as she faces a scary diagnosis. Amy hopes her siblings show up to her music video shoot. And later, she releases her song for the world to hear.”

Tuesday is really two finales at once. Tammy — more than 500 pounds down from a peak of over 700, with a wedding reportedly set for December 12 — stands by the woman she plans to marry through a scary diagnosis. Amy stands on a stage hoping the same siblings Tammy just fought with will show up for her. One sister needs the family in a hospital room. The other needs them on a video set.

So the finale comes down to one question. If you were Amanda, Misty or Chris, would you show up to Amy’s video shoot on Tuesday night, or would you stay with Tammy and Andrea while the diagnosis hangs over the wedding? Team Bet on Amy says she earned this dream. Team Show Up for Family says Tuesday is not the night for a song. Which side are you on?
