Kody Brown wished a stranger named Jim a happy birthday this week. Then, without anyone asking, he started talking about Ebenezer Scrooge. One video sums up Kody Brown in 2026. Here are his five most tone-deaf moves since leaving Sister Wives, ranked from awkward to unreal.
No. 5: The Big Announcement That Never Arrived

When Kody and Robyn walked away in September, Kody posted a long farewell on Instagram, said their peace could not be bought, and wished the other three women luck forging their own paths “without using Robyn and I for storyline.” Then came the hook: “We have some very exciting announcements coming soon.” Two months later, the big announcement turned out to be a Cameo birthday video for a man named Jim. What they got was a paid greeting that wandered off into Dickens. Enormous in the telling, tiny in the delivery.
No. 4: The Apology Tour That Started in the Wrong Place
At the end of Season 20, Kody announced a plan to go on a “pilgrimage” to apologize to Janelle, Christine and Meri, and the Season 21 premiere showed those apologies on camera. According to reports, Christine’s husband David Woolley urged Kody to start by apologizing to his 18 adult children, many of whom are estranged from him. Cameras first, family second: classic Kody.
No. 3: Calling Them ‘Sister Witches’
Some insults die quietly. This one became jewelry. In Season 21, Episode 5, Meri, Janelle and Christine took their old jewelry to a jeweler. Christine addressed the nickname head-on: “We heard a while ago how Kody [Brown] referred to us as ‘sister witches.’ It’s kind of like a slam.” Her husband David had suggested matching “sister witches” pendants with diamond eyes. When Christine asked Meri whether she had any regrets about melting the past, Meri answered with a single word: “No.”
No. 2: The Divorce Meri Now Says Was Planted

The 2014 legal divorce was supposed to be Meri’s generous sacrifice: she divorced Kody so he could marry Robyn and adopt her three children. On the November 1 episode, the ex-wives finally said it out loud. Christine said she believed Robyn “planted” the idea back in Lehi, Utah, recalling Robyn praising the idea in Meri’s living room. Meri’s verdict was the coldest line of the night: “I don’t know if they had a plan. If it wasn’t a plan, it worked very well in his favor.” Meri added Kody was only nice to her for “maybe a month” after the divorce, according to reports. And in Season 18, Meri revealed Kody had secretly melted down his original wedding ring from her while courting Robyn, keeping the diamonds. A divorce, a melted ring, a month of kindness. That is a transaction, and Meri finally named the price.
No. 1: Three Ghosts and a Birthday Video for Jim
Which brings us back to Jim’s birthday. In the Cameo video that surfaced November 4, Kody wished Jim well, then drifted into the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his three ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. He never named his three ex-wives, but he did not have to. He went on to talk about how he has changed and improved himself, sounding relieved to have left his past life behind, according to reports. “He’s the only person I know that can say something without saying anything,” one viewer wrote. “Typical Kody – misses the point of the Scrooge story,” wrote another. Dickens wrote about a man who faces his past and changes. Kody used the same story to explain why he was right all along.
