Kody Brown meant it as a slam. On Sunday night’s Sister Wives, his three ex-wives took the word he threw at them — “sister witches” — and turned it into the punchline of the season. In Season 21, Episode 5, “The Stench Of A Failed Marriage,” Meri, Janelle and Christine sat down with a jeweler to decide what to do with the jewelry Kody gave them. Christine had an idea nobody saw coming: turn the insult into matching pendants, with diamond eyes.

The Insult That Was Supposed to Sting

According to reports, Kody once referred to his estranged former wives as “sister witches,” and the label stuck in the worst way. Christine addressed it head-on in a confessional, saying, “We heard a while ago how Kody [Brown] referred to us as ‘sister witches.’ It’s kind of like a slam.”

But instead of flinching, she flipped it. “My husband thought it would be cute if we all got sister witches. Diamond eyes,” Christine said, crediting her husband David Woolley with the idea. In one sentence, the women went from the butt of Kody’s joke to wearing it as jewelry.

“No Regrets”: The Night They Melted the Past

The pendant idea came during a scene already heavy with symbolism. Meri put it plainly: “This is not something that happens very often. Where three ex-sister wives all get together, grab all their old jewelry from their ex-husband, go to the same jeweler and do something with it.”

When the jeweler asked what they hoped to accomplish, Meri answered, “I don’t know at this point. But I don’t want to wear them and I don’t want them in my space.” And when Christine asked Meri whether she had any regrets about the symbolic act, Meri answered with a single word: “No.”

The moment carries extra weight because of the show’s own history. In Season 18, Meri revealed that Kody had secretly melted down his original wedding ring from her while courting Robyn — keeping the diamonds, without her knowledge or consent. Back then, melting was something done to her. On Sunday night, it was something she chose, in the open.

Fans Are Split: Reclaim It or Leave It Behind?

Viewers flooded the comments on the preview clip, and the fandom split into two camps almost immediately. One side loved the pendant plan outright. “I think little witch pendants are a good idea,” one fan wrote, while another celebrated the bonding: “Cute to see them bonding over something. Lovely.”

The other side is not so sure. Some fans argue that turning Kody’s insult into matching jewelry keeps him at the center of a story the women are trying to leave behind. Janelle, characteristically, landed somewhere in the middle, wondering aloud whether they really wanted to pass that “bad energy” on to whoever gets the gold.

The Real Story Is the Friendship Nobody Expected

Strip away the pendants and the blowtorch, and the episode’s real shock is simpler: Meri and Christine, once the family’s frostiest pairing, finding common ground and laughing about the same man. The episode also gave Janelle her own quiet act of courage, facing her fear of bees and trying beekeeping with her daughter Maddie.

That is why the “sister witches” moment hit so hard. It was not really about jewelry. It was three women who were once rivals in one man’s family, standing side by side, deciding for themselves what to keep, what to melt, and what to laugh at.

So where do you stand? Are the diamond-eyed “sister witches” pendants the ultimate power move — Team Reclaim It — or should Meri, Janelle and Christine leave Kody’s insult in the past where it belongs — Team Leave It Behind? Drop your side in the comments.
