Was Meri Pushed Into Divorce — or Was It Her Idea All Along? Christine’s Claim Splits Sister Wives Fans

Was Meri Pushed Into Divorce — or Was It Her Idea All Along? Christine’s Claim Splits Sister Wives Fans

Every Sister Wives fan knows how the story ends: Meri Brown legally divorced Kody Brown, Kody legally married Robyn Brown, and Robyn’s children were adopted into the family. What fans cannot agree on, even now, is how the story started. Did Meri walk into that decision on her own, or was she steered there by the very people who stood to gain from it?

That is the question Christine Brown has just blown open again. According to reports, Christine claims Robyn had a plan to manipulate Meri into divorcing Kody, clearing the way for Kody to legally marry Robyn and adopt her children. Christine says she heard Robyn describe divorce as a beneficial way for a wife to help her husband marry another woman, then learned Meri had presented the divorce as her own idea. Christine challenged that version, and the fandom has split down the middle.

What Christine Claims She Heard

Christine’s account, as reported, is about sequence. First, Robyn praised an arrangement in which a wife’s divorce could help her husband marry someone else. Then Meri came forward with the divorce as though it were her own suggestion. To Christine, that order did not add up. She told Meri the decision did not appear to originate with her, arguing that Kody and Robyn had influenced Meri until she volunteered to surrender her legal marriage.

Precision matters here. Christine’s comments are a claim about what she heard and how she interpreted it; they do not establish an admitted scheme. The outcome is not in dispute: the divorce happened, the legal marriage to Robyn followed, and the adoption went ahead. The fight is over intent, not over what happened next.

Team Christine and Janelle: “She Was Led There”

Janelle, according to reports, agreed with Christine’s reading, supporting the claim that Meri may have been guided toward the divorce. For fans on this side, the pattern is plain: Robyn benefited most, Kody got the legal marriage he wanted, and Meri paid the highest price.

In the same discussion, Christine and Meri also reportedly questioned Kody and Robyn’s account of how they first met, doubting the story that Kody spotted Robyn near a church. For these fans, one challenged story makes the other easier to believe.

But the second side is anchored by Meri’s own voice. Meri has long presented the divorce as her idea, and in this latest discussion she remained unsure whether Kody and Robyn had deliberately planned the outcome. The woman at the center of the story has neither signed on to Christine’s version nor fully ruled it out.

Fans on Team Meri argue that stripping Meri of her agency is its own kind of unfairness. Meri made a sacrifice, they say, and recasting it as manipulation turns her choice into someone else’s plot. If Meri says it was her idea, they ask, why should anyone else get to rewrite it?

So, Which Side Are You On?

Strip away the camps and something uncomfortable remains: a person can genuinely offer an idea and still have been nudged toward it. That gray area is why this argument never dies.

Was Meri manipulated into giving up her legal marriage so Kody could marry Robyn, as Christine claims? Or was it Meri’s own decision, as Meri herself has maintained? Tell us where you stand: Team Christine and Janelle, who say Meri was led there, or Team Meri, who say it was her idea all along? And if you were Meri, would you still be unsure, or would you have made up your mind by now?
