Single, Thriving, and Done Explaining Herself: Inside Meri Brown’s New Chapter After Kody

Single, Thriving, and Done Explaining Herself: Inside Meri Brown’s New Chapter After Kody

For more than three decades, Meri Brown was introduced to the world as someone’s wife — first wife, legal wife, spiritual wife. These days, she is introducing herself differently: as a woman with her own home, her own plans, and her own rules about love. Single, thriving, and done explaining herself — that is the Meri Brown fans are watching in Season 21 of Sister Wives.

This is not a comeback built on a new romance. It is quieter than that: a woman rebuilding her everyday life on her own terms, at her own speed.

Parowan Is Home — But Not Forever

Meri has lived in Parowan, Utah, since leaving Flagstaff, Arizona, in 2023, in Lizzie’s Heritage Inn — the bed-and-breakfast she bought on her own in December 2017. The house was built by her great-great-grandparents in the 1870s, and her late mother Bonnie once ran it as innkeeper. According to reports, when Meri asked Kody Brown for help with the money, he turned her down — so she bought it herself.

The inn has been closed to regular guests since August 2024 for renovations, and Meri has talked about reimagining it as a retreat or community space. In a livestream with her friend Jenn Sullivan, she added a twist: Parowan was never intended to be her forever home. She is not unhappy there — she is, in words reported by The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, “just enjoying being here and seeing what else happens.”

“Connection” Is Her Word for 2026

Meri has said her word for 2026 is “connection,” and her goals are to find her permanent home and, eventually, a life partner who actually celebrates her. That last part matters: she has talked about wanting to feel truly celebrated, especially on her birthday, which she has said often felt secondary during her marriage. Her birthday fell the day before Kody’s wedding to Janelle, and she shares it with one of Robyn’s children. Her next partner, she has said, needs to make her feel like the most special person in the room.

Ron: Comfortable in the Friend Zone, On Purpose

Then there is Ron, the man Meri met at a speed-dating event last season. On the October 18 episode, Meri told friends that she and Ron are comfortable in the friend zone while they each figure out what they want after long marriages. They have gone on dates — Ron once described a river-rafting outing as romantic — but both are dating other people, and neither has put a label on it.

Meri is not playing the waiting game fans expect. She wants open communication and basic kindness above all, and she likes that with Ron she can simply be herself. After a marriage where she spent years asking to be chosen, refusing to rush into a label is not hesitation. It is the boundary.

From Afraid to Leave the House to Facing It Head-On

What makes this chapter land is how far Meri has come. In a recent interview with Utah’s KSL News, she revealed a period of self-described agoraphobia that left her “too scared” to leave her house — driven, she said, largely by fear of being seen online. She has spent the past few years working through it, deliberately facing the fear instead of hiding from it.

One of her first steps was showing her face on camera to sell clothes online. In May 2024, she launched Worthy Up, her inspirational online program. The woman who once dreaded being looked at now talks to a camera for a living. That is not a small shift. That is the whole story.

Building Something of Her Own

According to reports from her livestream with Jenn Sullivan, the two friends are also building a venture called Chances Are Connections — social events to help adults make real connections, from friendship gatherings to social weekends, not just romance. Connection as a project, not just a wish.

Put it together and the picture is clear: Meri owns her home even as she reimagines it, she has a standard for love she will not lower, and she has a friendship with Ron she refuses to rush or explain away. So here is the question that will split the comments: is Meri’s slow, label-free approach exactly what she needed after 30-plus years of marriage — or is she playing it too safe with Ron?
