It was supposed to be a simple family dinner. Instead, it became the most talked-about moment of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 8 so far — and it all started with a knife and fork.
In an exclusive sneak peek shared by Extra on October 29, Ben’s sister watches Zuri at the table and asks, in French, “So, she can’t manage to eat with a knife, then?” Ben tries to smooth it over, saying Zuri is “just not really used to it.” His sister is not convinced, wondering aloud, “Don’t they use knives there?”
The Clip That Started the Fight
The sneak peek comes from Sunday’s episode of The Other Way, airing November 1 at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
In a confessional, Ben admits the dinners have been rough. “It has been bad sometimes at the restaurant with Zuri,” he says. “It can be embarrassing.” The episode synopsis promises Zuri will try to make peace with Ben’s sister, which is exactly why fans are buzzing: is this the fight before the reconciliation, or proof the family will never fully accept her?
Why the Table Rules Matter So Much in France

Ben spells out the stakes, and they are higher than they sound. In France, leaving your fork and knife apart on the plate can signal that you did not like the food, and starting to eat before everyone is served is another quiet breach of etiquette.
“All these kinds of little things [are] very important if she wants to show that she’s trying to be more French and that she’s into the culture,” Ben says. To some viewers, he is simply explaining French culture. To others, he is grading his girlfriend’s manners instead of standing beside her.

The dinner-table tension does not exist in a vacuum. Zuri, a 26-year-old from Fairfield, Connecticut, met Ben while studying in the UK and moved to France once before — only for the dream to fall apart. She has said Ben’s friends treated her like an outsider, including one incident in which they pelted her with ice, and she struggled with the language barrier.
She went home, rebuilt her life, and then gave Ben and France a second chance in Season 8. But the old doubts followed her back: Ben’s friends remain skeptical, and questions still linger about another woman he grew close to while they were apart.
Fans Are Split Down the Middle

The debate breaks cleanly in two. Team Zuri argues a partner should defend his girlfriend at his own family table, not explain her away — and that mocking someone’s manners in a language she barely speaks is not a fair test of love.
Team Ben counters that moving to another country means learning its customs, and that Ben is being honest rather than cruel.
Both sides agree on one thing: Ben’s sister is not a neutral observer. Whether she is protecting her brother or gatekeeping her culture is now the season’s hottest argument.
