Would You Leave Your Kids Alone With Her? Ranking Every I Love a Mama’s Boy Mom as a Grandma

Forget who is the scariest mother-in-law. Here is the only test that matters for the moms of I Love a Mama’s Boy: would you hand them your kids and drive away without checking your phone every five minutes?

Babysitting is where the truth comes out. So we ran every major mom through the Grandma Test — solo weekend, supervised visit, or absolutely never? Only one mom passes clean.

The Automatic No: Nancy Demanded a DNA Test on Her Own Grandchild

Nancy does not make it past the front door. She convinced her son Roberto to demand a paternity test on his own daughter Kimi — her own grandchild. Kristy’s response became instant franchise history: “Who is she that I have to prove to her?” The result came back 99.99%, Kristy walked out, and Roberto followed his wife out the door.

Babysitting runs on trust, and Nancy spent hers on camera. Verdict: never alone. Not for an hour. Not with a nanny cam. Never.

The Drama Risk: Laila’s Fainting Spells Don’t Babysit Well

Laila is television gold and a babysitting liability. She is the mom of the dramatic fainting spells, the perfectly timed “Momma gonna die” moments, the woman who called Emily a “pig” and then brought Yussra — the woman she wished Shekeb would marry — to dinner to sabotage his relationship in person.

Picture her alone with grandkids: every scraped knee becomes a three-act tragedy. Laila might love fiercely, but love is not the test here. Calm is. Verdict: supervised visits only.

The House-Rules Grandma: Tina Moved In — and Never Moved Out

Tina’s problem is not cruelty. It is occupancy. She built her life inside Josh and Janelle’s marriage — the mother-in-law suite, the “I came first” energy, the constant presence that finally pushed Janelle to snap and tell her to find her own husband. Janelle even told Josh to “take a breather and wake the f— up,” per fan recaps of the season, because he still would not draw the line himself.

A grandma who will not leave the house will rewrite the house rules the minute the parents leave. Verdict: lovely in small doses, dangerous as a weekend plan.

The Wildcards: Lori and Dia Still Need Supervision

Lori hijacked Natasha’s bridal gown appointment and asked whether Chase would “sleep in the middle” of the two women. Dia judged Nylah on a first impression, questioned her intentions, including toward Shahid’s finances, and still holds so much control over the budget that Shahid cannot buy a ring without her say-so.

Neither woman is a villain, but both still treat their sons’ partners as applicants, not family. Verdict: wonderful with the parents in the room, not ready for a solo weekend.

The Shock Pass: Kelly, the Grandma Who Finally Learned to Share

Then there is Kelly — the only mom who actually changed. Yes, the graveyard birthday trip happened, and yes, she once refused to “share” her son. But look at what came after: Matt sat down on The Sarah Fraser Show podcast with both Kelly and his girlfriend Devon, all three together, and Matt posted a photo of the trio writing that “mom’s ready for the ride.”

That is the whole test in one sentence: Kelly learned to share her son, so she could learn to share the rules too. Verdict: the keys — with one condition: the graveyard stays off the itinerary.

Final ranking, worst to best: Nancy, Laila, Tina, then Lori and Dia tied, with Kelly alone at the top. Now your turn, no fence-sitting: who gets your kids for the weekend, who gets supervised visits only, and who is never left alone with them? Drop your ranking below and defend it.
