“I should probably at some point tell her I want to put roots down in Ghana. I definitely didn’t tell her that.” That is Niles Valentine, talking to a friend in a preview clip released October 1, about his wife Matilda Nti. Five episodes later, she still has not heard it. Tonight, on Episode 6, the listing says that finally changes: “Niles reveals his secret to Matilda.”
Rewind to February 2025. Niles launched a GoFundMe with an $8,000 goal for Matilda’s visa, medical exams, legal fees and a plane ticket. Fans gave over $16,000, double the target. The promise: Matilda in America within five or six months of their Ghana wedding. She is still in Ghana.
February 2025: The 8,000-Dollar Promise
The money is where it gets uncomfortable. According to TV Season & Spoilers, Bozo reportedly gave $2,000 to the fundraiser, a claim Niles has not confirmed. Spousal visas can take one to two years, which explains part of it. But fans keep asking one question Niles has not answered: if the money was raised for a U.S. visa, and he now plans to live in Ghana, what was it for? Some call the silence suspicious; others say visas are slow.
October 1: The Secret Slips Out to Everyone Except Matilda

The secret surfaced before the season even began. In TV Insider’s preview, Niles told a friend he planned to move to Ghana. His friend asked what Matilda thought. Niles admitted she did not know, then added the line that has followed him all season: “When I know someone’s going to have a bad reaction, I don’t always tell the full, whole truth.” Then he added, “I promised her I would never lie to her.” His friend shot back: “Talk to your wife, please!”
October 11 to 25: Two Bombs, Then a Secret of Her Own
The October 4 premiere made it the season’s ticking clock. In Episode 2, Niles laid out the two bombs he would have to drop on Matilda: one, they would stay at Mr. Arc’s house instead of with her family; two, he was not leaving Ghana. Then Episode 3 flipped it. According to episode recaps, Matilda had a secret of her own: an apartment Niles did not know about, plus money set aside. By Episode 4, a forgotten bottle of schnapps put the marriage on the line, with a warning that a returned bottle could annul it.
November 1 to 4: The Confession That Was Not to Her

Episode 5, on November 1, was the closest Niles came, and he still did not tell Matilda. Instead he confessed to Mr. Arc, who gave him one more year to bring Matilda to America, plus a test: kill and prepare a wild turkey. Then came the November 4 clip from Extra. Matilda asked: “Am I not attractive to you?” She said he had let her sleep alone, untouched. Niles insisted it was not about her looks, but their anniversary showdown laid the distance bare.

Which brings us to tonight. Episode 6, “Hakuna Ma-Drama,” gives the plot away in one line: “Niles reveals his secret to Matilda.” What it does not say is how she takes it. Fans are already split. Some say it was a kindness that curdled: he wanted to tell her face to face, and the slow visa math gave him cover. Others say five episodes of silence is the answer itself, and keep coming back to the $16,000 raised for a future already left behind. The season’s safest-to-doomed ranking has this couple near the bottom, and tonight shows why.
So tonight’s question: Niles kept his Ghana plan secret for five episodes while Matilda kept an apartment of her own, so when he finally tells her, should she forgive him for coming clean, or is a secret kept that long a second betrayal?
