Hunt for Love vs Single Life: Neither Show Found the Love — A DM and a Birthday Party Did

Here is the twist nobody talks about: Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno both went on dating shows to find love again, and both of them found it somewhere the cameras were never looking. Chantel’s wife was waiting back home, met through her brother’s birthday party. Pedro’s fiancée slid into his DMs. The shows gave us the drama. Real life gave them the endings.

Now that Chantel is married and Pedro is engaged, settle it: which second-chance show actually worked — 90 Day: Hunt for Love or 90 Day: The Single Life? On paper, both delivered. Look closer, and neither show’s dates won a thing.

Chantel’s Hunt for Love Detour

Chantel arrived on season 1 of 90 Day: Hunt for Love and went on dates with new men at a singles resort in Tulum. But the real story was off the resort. During the season, she admitted she had recently shared her first kiss with a woman back home — her friend Ashley Bowen — and could not stop thinking about it. Ashley debuted on-screen via FaceTime, and at the Tell All, the two revealed they were officially dating.

Chantel later told Swooon she had met Ashley through her brother River at a birthday party, and that before filming, Ashley kissed her during a night out. Chantel pulled away at first. By the time filming ended, she knew she wanted Ashley more than any spark from Tulum. Ashley proposed in December 2025, and on October 17, 2026, the two married in Auburn, Alabama, in front of roughly 60 guests.

Pedro’s Single Life Detour

Pedro’s road through 90 Day: The Single Life season 5 ended the same way. His on-screen storyline was an online “situationship” with Sophie Sierra, who arrived in the Dominican Republic while still healing from her separation from Rob Warne. Pedro wanted it official. Sophie was not ready. After a miscommunication and a blowup involving his sister Nicole, they parted ways for good.

Then came the Tell All, and the real reveal. Pedro introduced viewers to Valentina Malagon, a psychologist from Colombia, who joined via video call. “She’s everything what I look for in a woman. And she is, like, the love of my life,” he told host Ross Mathews. Valentina explained she had slid into Pedro’s DMs after seeing a Story that he was in Colombia: “I took my chances and sent him a message through Instagram. And since then, we haven’t stopped talking.” Pedro proposed on June 6, 2026, on a beach in Hawaii under a heart-shaped arch of red roses, and the couple announced the engagement on June 23.

The Twist: Love Was Already Waiting Off-Camera

Put the two stories side by side and the pattern is impossible to miss. Neither winner came from the show’s format. Chantel’s Tulum dates produced nothing lasting; her wife was a friend of her brother’s, kissed at a bar before filming started. Pedro’s Single Life romance collapsed on camera; his fiancée was a woman who messaged him because she saw he was in her country.

What the shows actually did was force honesty. Chantel had to say on television that the person she could not stop thinking about was a woman back home. Pedro had to close the door on Sophie on camera before introducing Valentina. The shows did not find them love. They cleared the path to it.

So Which Show Actually Worked?

Here is the honest scorecard. Hunt for Love wins on transformation: it gave Chantel the stage to tell her truth, and that truth became a marriage. Single Life wins on speed: Pedro’s dead-end storyline burned out fast, and the Tell All reveal of Valentina was a season highlight. But if the question is which show’s dating format produced the match, the answer is neither.

Chantel got the wedding; Pedro got the engagement, with no wedding date publicly confirmed yet. The shows were just the detour. A birthday party and a DM did the real work. So pick your side: TEAM HUNT FOR LOVE or TEAM SINGLE LIFE? Which show earned its happy ending — and which one just happened to be filming when love showed up somewhere else?
