Forget the boyfriends. Forget the glow-ups, the breakups, and the Tell All shouting matches. If you want to understand Darcey and Stacey Silva, look at the two people standing quietly behind them in almost every family photo: their parents, Mike and Nancy Silva.

While both of the twins’ marriages sit in limbo in 2026 — Darcey and Georgi Rusev filed under “reported split” and Stacey and Florian Sukaj “married, living apart,” according to The Celeb Watch’s October 2026 couples scorecard — the Silva parents are the one relationship in this family that never actually broke. They divorced years ago, and yet they still show up, still sit in the same family photos, and still anchor the loudest family in the franchise. So here is the question splitting the fandom today: who is the real backbone of the Silva family — Team Dad or Team Nana?

Team Dad: Mike Silva, the “Day One King”

Mike Silva is the parent fans know best, and the one Darcey calls her “day one king.” In a birthday tribute posted on October 17, 2025, Darcey wrote: “Big birthday love to our day one king forever the legend behind the twins!” It was not just a caption — it was a job description.

According to reports, Mike built a career in international engineering and construction that took him to China, where he spent most of the year and, per his LinkedIn, served as chairman of Maison Worley Parsons, an international engineering and construction company. He bought the $715,000 Connecticut home where the twins lived with Darcey’s daughters, and he co-executive produced the twins’ early film projects with them, including the 2013 comedy White T, through their company Eleventh Entertainment.

On screen, Mike became Darcey’s secret weapon for holding a boyfriend accountable. During 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Season 9, Darcey revealed her surefire method for keeping Georgi in line: putting him in a text group chat with her dad. No shouting, no Tell All theatrics — just Dad, reading the messages. And when Mike announced on Darcey & Stacey that he planned to retire to spend more time with his family, he summed up his whole philosophy in one line: “The best part about being a grandfather is to be around for the little things.”

Team Nana: Nancy Silva, the “Riot” Nobody Saw Coming

Then there is Nancy Silva — the parent fans met late, and loved instantly. Before the Darcey & Stacey spinoff premiered in 2020, Nancy had never appeared on television at all. Stacey could not wait to introduce her, telling Entertainment Weekly in June 2020: “I can’t wait for audiences to meet my mom, she’s a riot! She’s so cute and she has so much love for everybody. We all call her Nana, and she’s been so helpful to Darcey and me.”

Nancy gave birth to the twins on September 23, 1974, in Connecticut, and raised them in Middletown alongside their late brother Michael. She divorced Mike years ago — and here is the part fans keep coming back to: the two stayed good friends. In a franchise where exes scream at each other across reunion stages, the Silva parents quietly modeled the one thing their daughters’ love lives never managed — a clean, respectful ending that kept the family intact.

Nancy does not chase the spotlight, does not post thirst traps, and does not start feuds. She is the grandmother in the family photos, the calm in the corner of the frame — and Team Nana argues that is exactly why she matters most.

The Loss That Explains Everything: Brother Michael

You cannot tell the Silva parents’ story without the child they lost. Michael Silva died of cancer in July 1998 at age 27. Darcey has said he was born on May 11 and died on July 11 — and that is where the family’s sacred number comes from: House of Eleven, Eleventh Entertainment, and even Darcey’s wedding date of November 11, 2023, all trace back to him.

“So that’s where the number 11 comes, like 11-11 on the clock — manifesting your power and owning the things that you do,” Darcey once explained. Every brand, every company, every “11” the twins touch is a tribute built by grieving parents and carried by two daughters. When fans ask why Darcey and Stacey cling so hard to each other, this is the answer: they already lost one sibling. They are not losing another.

Divorced, Still a Family — the Silva Paradox

Here is the twist that makes the Silva parents genuinely unusual in reality TV: a divorced couple who never turned their split into a storyline. Mike lives much of the year abroad, Nancy keeps a quieter life, and yet both keep showing up for birthdays, holidays, and family photos — the same frame, no drama attached.

It is also, fans note, the sharpest possible contrast to their daughters’ marriages. Both twins married foreign men, both marriages cooled after citizenship milestones — a theory Stacey herself raised on camera when she told Florian, “You got your citizenship. You don’t need me!” — and both now sit unconfirmed, unresolved, and un-divorced. Meanwhile, the one couple in this family who actually did divorce did it with grace, stayed friends, and kept the family whole. The parents, in other words, did the thing the twins never could: end something cleanly and keep the love.

So the debate is real, and it is yours to settle. Team Dad says Mike is the legend behind the twins — the provider, the producer, the man in the group chat holding boyfriends accountable. Team Nana says Nancy is the heart — the riot, the grandmother, the quiet proof that this family can survive anything, even divorce itself.

Drop your pick in the comments: are you Team Mike or Team Nancy — and which Silva parent do you think the twins take after most?
