Tammy Slaton gets the headlines. Amy Slaton gets the music dreams and the chaos. But ask longtime 1000-LB Sisters fans who holds this family together, and one name comes up first: big brother Chris Combs — the brother who drives, waits in hospital hallways, tells hard truths, and stays to help clean up.

But Chris is not the only support figure here. Behind Tammy and Amy stands a bench of people who have shown up again and again, often without a storyline of their own. So let us settle it the fan way — by ranking them.

No. 1 — Chris Combs: The Brother Who Shows Up

Chris did not start as a star. He joined in Season 2 as the brother driving his sisters to appointments. When viewers met him, he weighed over 450 pounds, according to reports, and his father’s death at 57 from weight-related health issues spurred him to change. After bariatric surgery, he lost around 150 pounds, dropping to roughly 300 pounds — and kept it off, even finishing a 5K run.

He has shown up for everyone else’s milestones too: sitting with Misty until she was wheeled in for surgery, standing by Tammy at her wedding to Caleb Willingham in 2022, and at Caleb’s memorial after his death in June 2023 at just 41, according to reports. He just shows up.

No. 2 — Amanda Halterman: The Truth-Teller Who Stays

If Chris is the family’s steady hand, Amanda Halterman is its spine — the sister who says the uncomfortable thing out loud, then stays in the room after she says it.

During Tammy’s Season 4 rehab stay, Amanda and Misty went to gather her belongings and found her home burglarized, according to reports. This season, Amanda has also pushed Amy hardest on the health checklist standing between her and the skin-removal surgery she has chased for years, according to reports. Fans split over tough love vs. pressure — either way, she says it because she wants her sister to get there.

No. 3 — Misty Slaton: The Quiet Steady Hand

Misty Slaton, the eldest sibling, will never win a loudest-voice contest, and that is her superpower. She never chases a storyline or disappears when things get hard. Her own comeback deserves more credit than it gets: in March 2023, Misty and Amanda underwent bariatric procedures on the same day, recovering side by side. According to reports, Misty went from 240 pounds down to 166 pounds and stopped taking diabetes medication entirely.

No. 4 and No. 5 — Brittany Combs and Brian Lovvorn: The Partners in the Corner

Brittany Combs and Brian Lovvorn rarely get the spotlight, but they hold up the people who do. Brittany has stood by Chris through his whole weight-loss journey, and her own transformation is remarkable: from 236 pounds down to 166, with her A1C falling from 10.4 to a normal 5.9, leaving her doctor to declare her diabetes-free. She has also stood by Chris through the couple’s fertility testing this season.

Brian has been Amy’s steady presence through her divorce, her music dreams and her single-mother years. Support does not always look like a speech. Sometimes it looks like someone who simply does not leave.

So Who Deserves the Most Credit?

Our verdict: Chris takes the crown, because no one else has shown up in so many rooms, for so many siblings, for so many years. Amanda is a close second, and Misty is the foundation, the one who never needed applause to do the work.

Now it is your turn: who is the Slatons’ real MVP? Is Chris the obvious No. 1, or does Amanda’s honesty — or Misty’s quiet loyalty — deserve the top spot? Drop your ranking in the comments and defend it. Team Chris, Team Amanda or Team Misty — pick a side.
