Five babies in matching outfits walked into America’s living rooms in 2020 — and this year, all five of them turned 13. That is the Derrico effect in one sentence: the kids grow up in public, and the moments stick. Doubling Down With the Derricos ran five seasons on TLC before Deon and Karen divorced in June 2024, and Deon says the cameras are rolling again for a return targeted at 2027 — still no network, title or date, according to reports. While fans wait, these are the five kids’ moments they quote back most, ranked from sweet to unforgettable.

#5 — The Thanksgiving Kitchen Lessons

Long before the divorce and the court dates, the Derricos’ most viral moments were the simplest: the boys in the kitchen. Deon’s Thanksgiving cooking posts — the boys lined up, sleeves rolled, learning to prep a holiday meal — became the family’s signature scene, and Deon recently confirmed the kids are still learning their way around the kitchen. In a house that once held 16 people, everybody worked. Nobody watched. Deon now drives a school bus and Karen works as a substitute teacher — regular jobs, same rulebook. They rank fifth because they are pure comfort viewing: no drama, no tears, just a dad teaching his sons to feed themselves.

#4 — Darian’s First Drive With Deon

In a 2022 episode, 16-year-old Darian asked her dad the question every teenager asks: can I start driving? Deon climbed into the passenger seat — sunglasses on, bandana tied — while Darian gripped the wheel, grinning through her braces. It was the last purely happy father-daughter scene before the divorce storyline swallowed the show. She passed her driving test in September 2024, according to reports. Fans still replay it because it captured something the later seasons lost: a dad and his eldest daughter, laughing, with nowhere to be but the road ahead.

#3 — The Quints Turn 13

Deniko, Dariz, Deonee, Daician and Daiten were born in 2013 — five babies, one camera crew, instant television, and the reason the show existed. This year they turned 13 — teenagers, with opinions, style and schedules of their own. Deonee already has a pageant sash, Jr. Teen North Las Vegas 2025; the other four are finding their own lanes. The milestone lands third because it reframes everything: the “babies” of the show are now nearly the age Darian was when the cameras first arrived.

#2 — The NYU Letter That Split the Fandom

Season 5 gave Darian the storyline no script could invent: she applied to New York University — and got rejected. Her parents could not cover the cost either, according to reports. Karen pushed her daughter toward music. Deon reportedly pushed back. The fandom split down the middle: Team Karen said a mother should back her daughter’s dream; Team Deon said somebody had to be honest about the money. Darian asked for something simpler: space, and the right to make her own choices. It ranks second because it was the first Derrico moment that was not about the family at all — just one young woman, caught on camera at the exact moment her plans fell apart.

#1 — Diez, Dior, and the Brother Who Never Came Home

Diez and Dior Derrico were born triplets in 2017. Their brother Carter died shortly after birth — a loss the family has spoken about openly on the show. The twins are nine now, and every birthday post carries the same quiet footnote: there were supposed to be three of them. It tops this list because it explains the whole family — why fans defend the Derricos so fiercely, and why a show about chaos was always, underneath, about love and loss in equal measure.

So here is the question for the comeback. If the cameras really are rolling again for a return targeted at 2027, should the new season tell Carter’s story properly — or is that one chapter the family should get to keep for themselves? Team Tell It, or Team Keep It Private — where do you stand?
