From 40 Bottles a Day to Solo School Runs: The Busbys’ Most Relatable Parenting Moments

Forty baby bottles a day. Four hundred and twenty diapers a week. Feedings every three hours. That was the Busbys’ normal when Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley and Parker came home in 2015 — five newborns at once, plus four-year-old Blayke.

Eleven years on, the quints are 11, Blayke is 15, and OutDaughtered has been off air since 2024. But the Busbys keep proving the chaos is normal — here are the moments every parent recognizes.

40 Bottles a Day and 420 Diapers a Week

The first all-female quintuplets born in the United States arrived on April 8, 2015 — all five in under four minutes, each weighing just 2 to 2.5 pounds. Danielle has described a hallway lined with 50-plus doctors and nurses, then three months in the NICU.

Then came the math every new parent knows — in bulk. A feeding every three hours meant someone was always awake, always washing, always counting.

The Morning Daddy Was in Colorado

This fall, the chaos changed shape. With Adam away in Colorado, Danielle shared a car video with 15-year-old Blayke riding shotgun — “Daddy’s in Colorado, so she had to ride with me early this morning.” The plan: drop the five quints, circle back for Blayke, squeeze in a Starbucks run.

What parents loved: no filter, no pretending the morning was serene. “Thank goodness for sunglasses #ScaryFace,” she wrote. Six drop-offs, zero backup, one tired mom owning it — the school run every parent has lived, with five times the passengers.

Bare Feet, Comfy Clothes and a Late-Morning Start

August 25 brought the newest Busby normal: the quints’ first day of sixth grade in a homeschool co-op, posing with handmade “First Day” and “Homeschool” signs while two dogs photobombed the milestone. “Bare feet, comfy clothes, and a late morning start to school… I think we will be enjoying our new adventure!!” Danielle wrote.

A month in came the update parents actually trust — the honest one. “Every day looks a little different, but I feel like the quints and I have adjusted,” she wrote, adding that there are still days she misses having more time for herself.

Date Night Needs a Spreadsheet

Date night is logistics, and Danielle has said it plainly: “Marriage needs to be a priority and it is OK for your kids to see Mom and Dad wanting to go on a date trip. It takes planning, lots of it… but we choose to make these trips happen as often as we can because we NEED TO!”

Parents recognize it instantly — the romance is real, but so is the planning. Six daughters, six schedules, a sitter plan before anyone holds hands at dinner. Adam knows the grind: in the early years he edited the family’s YouTube videos until 2 or 3 in the morning, then got up for work.

Screens Down, Shoes Off, Outside Time On

The newest house rule, from episode 105 of More Than Reality, is the simplest: screens down, go outside. Every parent with a tween knows that dinner-table standoff — the Busbys just have it five times over.

The payoff is the backyard: Adam on the playset with three quints in matching yellow shirts, bare feet, big red bows, nobody looking at a screen. Loud, messy — and the whole point.

Blayke is 15 and learning to drive; the quints do sixth grade barefoot on the porch. It never gets less chaotic — you just get better at laughing through it. Which Busby moment felt most like your house — the 40-bottle days, the solo school run, or the date night that needed a spreadsheet?
