It was supposed to be a simple photo. Three former sister wives, flipping through old pictures, deciding whether to recreate one. Instead, it became the most divisive moment of Sister Wives Season 21 so far.
“I was just last. I was put on the bottom,” Christine said on the episode, refusing to pose for the recreated portrait. Then she went to Instagram to explain herself further. And the internet answered back: not everyone is buying it.
The Photo That Reopened an Old Wound
In Season 21, Episode 2, Christine reunited with former sister wives Meri and Janelle Brown to look through old family photos. When they suggested recreating a portrait, Christine declined. For her, the picture was never just a picture. It was a map of where each wife stood in the family — literally and figuratively.
Christine said the moment brought back memories of the “hierarchy of wives” and her feeling that she had been placed last. In a plural family with one husband and four wives, position mattered — and hers was at the bottom.

Christine’s Case: “There Was Favoritism”
Christine did not stop at the episode. In an Instagram video shared on Saturday, October 24, alongside her husband David Woolley, she said she had “been fuming about it for a while” and felt the episode did not give her room to explain her perspective.
“There was favoritism in our family. There was all kinds of games, so many games were played all around the board,” she said. For Christine, the photo was proof of a pecking order she lived with for years — and she is done pretending it did not hurt.

The Other Side: Fans Say She Got It Wrong
But a lot of fans who watched the episode said Christine was in the wrong — and they said so in her own comments.
“What? Did we watch the same episode? Meri and her friends never talked ‘shit’ about Christine. They were just asking questions and trying to understand both sides,” one person wrote.
The follow-up video did not help her case with critics, either. “Christine, yesterday’s video was bizarre and David speaking for you was uncalled for,” one fan wrote. Another added: “An apology to Meri (private is fine) and taking down the other video would go farther.”

The Meri Problem in the Middle
At the heart of the row is Meri. Christine also pushed back on Meri’s comments about wanting a relationship with Kody Brown’s children, noting that most of them are adults and can make their own decisions.
To Christine’s supporters, that was a fair point: grown children choose their own relationships. To her critics, it was Christine shutting a door Meri was trying to open.
Why This Fight Matters for Season 21
Season 21 was supposed to be the fresh start: Kody and Robyn are gone, and the show belongs to Meri, Janelle and Christine. But this row proves the old wounds did not leave with Kody. The hierarchy Christine describes was built over decades, and a new season cannot erase it in two episodes.
It also raises a question that will follow Christine all season: is she finally telling her truth, or rewriting history now that she is safely out?
So, where do you stand? Was Christine right to refuse the photo — because the “hierarchy of wives” was real and the picture proved it? Or did she overreact to a harmless moment, and owe Meri an apology? Drop your verdict in the comments: Team Christine or Team Meri?
