“Is it Italian food?” That was the only question Peter needed answered before he agreed to a blind date in Las Vegas. “She said, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘I’m in.’” Months later, that one dinner has become the most open chapter of Janelle Brown’s life after Sister Wives — and on November 6, the couple gave their first in-depth joint interview to tell the story themselves.
The Blind Date Alice Set Up in Vegas
The matchmaker was Janelle’s friend Alice, who arranged the Las Vegas meeting. “We first met at a blind date that my friend Alice set up for me in Vegas,” Janelle told Parade. “I don’t know it worked out, but I was super awkward.” Peter had not come for a grand gesture. He came for dinner, and stayed because of the woman across the table.
It is a long way from where Janelle was four years ago. She split from Kody Brown in December 2022, closing out a plural marriage that had lasted nearly 30 years, and spent the years since building a life on her own terms in North Carolina. A blind date in Vegas was not the plan. It was Alice’s idea, and Janelle went along with it.
Two Glances Across the Table
Something clicked before dessert. Peter’s first impression was immediate: “very kind, honest, open. An amazing woman.” Janelle felt it too. “I caught his eye a couple of times during dinner, and I said, ‘Wait, what do I see here?’ There was something there.” Two adults, both a little nervous, noticing each other over a meal neither expected to matter.

Talking, Texting, and the Miles Between Them
What followed was a long-distance romance built almost entirely on conversation. “It was all talking and texting and it was really easy,” Janelle said. Peter agreed that their talks “just flowed naturally,” and called the experience “new” for him. For Janelle, the ease itself was the surprise. The relationship, she said, was “different than anything I have ever had before. It was easy to kind of move forward.”
August, the Hard Launch, and Five Years vs. Thirty
By August 2026, the private thing became public. Janelle and Peter went Instagram-official, sharing a clip captioned, “Meet the new man in Janelle’s life!” Season 21 viewers had already met him in the trailer, where Janelle introduced him with a line that stopped the fandom: “His name is Peter, and there are no red flags. Peter is so nice.”

Then came October, and the porch swing. Sitting side by side at her new home, Pete called it plainly — “This is forever” — and predicted five years together. Janelle did not hesitate. “30,” she answered. Five years was his floor, thirty was hers, and neither of them was hedging.
“I Look Forward to Seeing Her in the Morning”
That confidence is what the November 6 interview is really about. Janelle said she is “excited for the future because I think its bright.” Peter put it simply: “We have a great connection. We are both open and honest with each other and we say what’s on our mind. We smile at the end of the day and I look forward to seeing her in the morning.”
There is no announcement tucked into the interview — no move, no ring, no date circled on a calendar. What there is, for the first time, is the two of them telling the story together, instead of letting the rumor mill do it for them.
So here is the question the interview leaves hanging: with Janelle calling the future bright and Pete already looking forward to every morning, does long distance stay the story, or is the next chapter the one where somebody closes the gap for good? And which number are you betting on — Pete’s five years, or Janelle’s thirty?
