The first time America met Chantel Everett, she was 25 and keeping a secret from her own parents: the man she planned to marry was not in the country on a student visa at all. He was her fiancé, Pedro Jimeno, on a K-1 visa with 90 days to say “I do.” Ten years later, on October 17, 2026, Chantel married Ashley Bowen in Auburn, Alabama, before about 60 guests. Between those two weddings sits one of reality TV’s wildest reinventions — and why Chantel became her family’s breakout star.

A Spanish Lesson That Turned Into a Marriage

Chantel met Pedro while trying to learn Spanish; according to reports, a friend connected the Atlanta student with the young man from the Dominican Republic, and their language exchange turned into a long-distance romance. When Pedro proposed, Chantel dreaded telling her family the truth, so she said he was coming on a student visa. The truth came out on season 4 in 2016: her parents hired a private investigator and demanded a prenuptial agreement. The couple married anyway in March 2016 — and the argument never stopped.

The Spinoff That Put Her Family on the Map

Most 90 Day Fiancé couples fade after one season. Chantel and Pedro did the opposite: they carried three more seasons of Happily Ever After? and then, in 2019, became the first couple to get a spinoff built around both families. The Family Chantel ran five seasons, with Chantel its center of gravity — the daughter caught between a mother famous for her one-liners and a mother-in-law who never trusted her.

The Divorce That Could Have Ended the Story

Then came the chapter that ends most reality stars: Pedro filed for divorce in May 2022 after nearly six years of marriage, finalized in 2023, according to multiple reports. The final season aired the wreckage, and Chantel’s television life looked over. Instead, she stayed and changed the story, talking openly on Single Life and Hunt for Love about questioning her sexuality — reframing a decade of her life on screen.

The Birthday Party That Changed Everything

The twist nobody scripted happened far from any film set. Chantel has said she met Ashley Bowen through her brother River, at one of his birthday parties. Before Chantel left to film Hunt for Love, Ashley kissed her during a night out — Chantel later said she almost fainted, she was so shocked, and she really liked it. At the Tell All in September 2025, Chantel confirmed they were dating; on December 17, 2025, Ashley proposed at a Renaissance castle in Helen, Georgia. Ten months later came the Alabama wedding, the helicopter exit, and a Cancun honeymoon — and Chantel’s perfect summary: “It feels so good to be wives.”

Why Chantel Became the Everett Breakout

Winter and River have had their moments, and Karen and Thomas remain fan favorites, but no other Everett carried a franchise spinoff, survived its divorce, and headlined a second love story a decade later. Chantel went from the bride whose parents hired a private investigator to the woman with a couple name of her own — ChantAshley, as Ashley joked after the wedding. That is what a breakout star is: not the loudest person in the room, but the one the story keeps returning to. So settle it: is Chantel Everett the greatest breakout star 90 Day Fiancé ever produced, or did the cameras simply follow the Everett who refused to leave the spotlight? Team Chantel Was Born for This, or Team the Show Made Her — pick your side.
