Who Actually Carries 7 Little Johnstons Season 18? Ranking Jonah, Liz, Alex and Emma

When 7 Little Johnstons premiered in 2015, the kids were the cute supporting cast. Eleven years later, they are the show. Season 18 premieres Tuesday, November 17 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC, and it is built around the four adult Johnston kids. Ranked by who carries the new season, here is where Jonah, Liz, Alex, and Emma land.

1. Liz Johnston: The Season Runs Through Her

There is no debate about the top spot. Liz Johnston and her husband Brice Bolden, married November 8, 2025, are now parents of two: daughter Leighton, born November 3, 2023, and son Coleman, born September 8, 2026. Season 18 follows Liz’s second pregnancy, and the stakes are unmatched. As a little person, Liz must deliver by C-section under general anesthesia — a fear she voices on camera, with Brice unsure what to do if something goes wrong. Liz is the reason to watch this season.

2. Emma Johnston: The Breakout Star of Season 18

Emma Johnston, now 21 — the breakout star of Season 18, with her first real adult storyline.

If Liz is the heart of the season, Emma Johnston is its surprise. The youngest Johnston daughter turns 21 this season, and the trailer hands her the line fans are already quoting: asked if she wants a boyfriend, she answers a simple, unhesitant “Yes.” Emma has said publicly that she has no boyfriend, and she has kept her love life private for years — which is exactly why this storyline lands. According to reports, Ashley and Allie are even teaming up to play matchmaker for Emma, seemingly with Joose, the family’s former exchange guest, who reportedly holds a flame for her. TLC has confirmed nothing about a couple, But Emma spent years as the baby of the family. Now she has her own jewelry business and her first real adult storyline — the season’s breakout.

3. Alex Johnston: The Quiet One With a Plan

Alex Johnston will never be the loudest Johnston in a scene, and that is exactly why he ranks third. His storyline is not chaos — it is a plan coming together. According to reports, Alex hopes to get engaged to girlfriend Allie Smith next year and eventually work on her family’s farm, and the couple already took a major step when he gave her a promise ring. Allie, meanwhile, just earned a headline of her own: according to TV Season & Spoilers, she received the American FFA Degree, a top honor, with the whole family celebrating her. The catch? Allie’s parents have reportedly set boundaries around moving in together before marriage. Quiet does not mean boring — Alex is the one adult kid whose storyline could end with a wedding.

4. Jonah Johnston: The Comeback That Still Is Not Finished

Jonah Johnston and girlfriend Ashley — seven years together and still no move toward marriage or moving out.

Jonah Johnston, the eldest, has the most honest redemption arc on the show — and the most unfinished one. Years after his health scare, he rebuilt himself into a working car salesman with a Finance Manager Training certification. That is genuine growth. But the Season 18 trailer puts his sticking point front and center: Jonah is still living at home, and he and girlfriend Ashley have been together for seven years with no progress toward marriage or moving in together, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup. A steady job is adulting; seven years in limbo is a storyline running in place.

Final ranking: Liz first, Emma second, Alex third, Jonah fourth. Liz has the stakes, Emma has the buzz, Alex has the plan, Jonah has the question mark. Did we get it right — or is Jonah’s seven-year standoff the storyline you will actually watch? Drop your ranking in the comments and defend it.
