Sister Wives: Christine’s Rant Backfired — Fans Call Her and David “Petty” and Say She’s the Villain Now

Christine Brown Woolley went on Instagram to defend herself — and fans say the rant backfired.

Christine Brown Woolley went on Instagram to clear the air. Instead, she started a whole new storm. Her weekend videos about Meri Brown have become the biggest fan backlash of Sister Wives Season 21 so far — with viewers calling Christine and her husband David Woolley “petty” and saying Christine has become the very thing she insists she is not: the villain.

The Video That Started It All

It began in Season 21, Episode 2, when Christine, Meri and Janelle Brown looked through old family photos and Meri suggested recreating one of their old group portraits. Christine refused, saying the photo reminded her of the “hierarchy of wives” in her former plural marriage to Kody Brown. “I was put on the bottom,” she said.

In Episode 3, Meri discussed the moment with two friends, who agreed the photo was never meant to be a ranking — but Meri admitted she felt awkward around Christine because of past comments in which Christine allegedly said she would not care if she ever spoke to Meri again.

That was the spark. On Saturday, October 24, Christine recorded a video with David for her Instagram followers. According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, she captioned it, “I’m fuming and triggered about the last episode. This is totally uncut because I’m too mad!”

David’s Attack on Meri Made It Worse

If Christine’s video lit the match, David’s comments poured on fuel. He accused Meri of letting her friends trash-talk Christine, saying it made them “look stupid,” and took aim at Meri’s wish to stay close to Kody’s children, noting most of them are adults who can decide for themselves.

“Sounds real familiar, like what Kody was claiming all the time too! So, if anybody’s acting like Kody — Meri, you’re acting like Kody,” David said, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup.

Viewers did not take it well. Many said they had rewatched the scene and never heard Meri’s friends insult Christine at all, and others argued David — who married into the family years after the plural marriage ended — had no business weighing in on Meri.

Christine’s Sunday U-Turn: “I’m Not the Villain”

By Sunday, the tone had changed completely. Christine returned to Instagram — this time without David — with a softer video and a caption that read like damage control. “This season, I may look like the villain to some, but I’m really just a woman learning to speak her truth after years of feeling unheard,” she wrote.

She praised David for helping her stand up for herself, something she said she never did while married to Kody, and admitted she sometimes gets “fired up” and changes her perspective after sleeping on it.

Fans Are Split — and Meri Has Said Nothing

The follow-up video did not land the way Christine hoped. “Your words here and what you displayed in your last video are incongruent,” one commenter wrote, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup. “The show isn’t casting you as a villain, the video did. And David came across as a bully.”

Another fan added: “An apology to Meri and taking down the other video would go farther.”

Christine still has defenders: fans who say she spent decades swallowing her feelings in a marriage where she felt voiceless, and that learning to speak up is messy by nature.

And then there is the silence hanging over all of it: Meri has not commented on Christine’s videos or David’s remarks at all.

So here is the question splitting the fandom: did Christine cross a line by dragging Meri on Instagram — or is she finally saying what she spent 30 years holding back? Drop your verdict below.
